Do y'all think that CS is a good enough recruiter that he might flip some kids back to Texas. Do y'all thing CS will need to get his feet settled in and the Texas highschool coaches get a feel for him. I have really fallen behind reading all the information there is on CS starting to feel like my old self. I know one thing he sure seems to have a lot of passion for the game and it relates to the players. Another question do y'all think he is a believer in strength and conditioning. I am tired of seeing our players get beat up on the football field. My friends y'all have a great day

I think he's a great recruiter and will get some to switch. As for strength and conditioning, have you seen the guy? Obviously, he believes in it as he benched near 350 at 53 years old.

Jims, great to see you posting. Is everything going well and let me know anything you need.

I'm excited to see what he can do here. Before we found out he was the guy, I researched him a bit and he seemed to be pretty strong in Florida. Don't know how that will translate here, but I think that is why he is keep some of the staff that have those Texas ties. You add those ties in with his genuine personality, I think he will do very well. He does not come off as a slick talking used car salesman. I think that he talks with more passion than polish will go over well in the living rooms of recruits.

Hey Jim, I'm glad it seems like your doing better.

From what I understand, CS is pretty savvy in the recruiting area, I don't think he'll have too much trouble. It will definitely help if he hires assistants already familiar with Texas recruiting. As far as S&C, check out this link. I believe someone has already posted this, but there's obviously a lot going on right now on Hornsports.

TexasFan thanks my friend it just takes me some time to get back up on my feet to were I was before. Deb watches over me like an old mother hen and limits my time on the boards. She knows how excited I can get when it comes to Longhorn football. Again thanks my friend for asking and thanks to all of y'all for your prayers. My friends y'all have a great day

Calling my shot .. .

I think he lands S Thomas, Freeman (OLB for us or the rover (not sure what CS calls it) in a 3-3-5) and one other . ..Watkins wouldn't hurt my feelings. . .I also think we lose one . .no clue who. . .personalities don't match. . .

I also thinks he keeps everyone from 2015. . .builds on it and lands a Top 5 class . ..though don't be surprised if he lands some 3 stars that are actually great football players ala Beck or Porter or Roberts . .

I'm encouraged some by the fact already two of our top commits have expressed a great deal of excitement over the hire, Jerrod Heard and Derrick Roberson. There had been rumors that Heard was getting restless, even considering looking around. He's super stoked about Strong, per his comments. Perhaps even more important, the standout DE Roberson--who many considered a very shaky commit in the first place and one probably very inclined to go elsewhere--also gave big time thumbs up to the hire. He's solid for us now.

Heard is, of course, more important, but I'm referencing the importance of the hire's effects on recruits who otherwise were less inclined to come (Roberson).

I understand at least a couple of standouts committed to other schools are starting to reconsider Texas with Strong now hired.

Strong has recruited really well in Florida due to his ties there from coaching many years with the Gators. I suspect, as he noted in his presser, that he'll cherry pick some in that state and others while securing state borders as his primary strategy.

Yes, of course. Any change brings a certain amount of optimism and excitement.

My guess is we have all of their attention right now with this hire.

Whether Strong can close some of these for 2014 will depend upon who is on his staff and how quickly he can get them all up and running.

I believe they can start again on the 16th? Is this right?

If so, that seems like enough time to flip some.

Let's roll.

Heard is an early enrollee, no?? Any of the others enrolling early?

Jim, my impression is that you're gonna like Strong a lot. He's definitely a good recruiter, and I like it that he looks for players, rather than the number of stars some recruiting service gives them. I have no doubts he'll finish up this year's class with four or five solid players, maybe two or three of them flips from another school. We will lose one or two that are committed to us, but that's alright...I don't think any losses will be players we can't do without. Reference your question about s&c...it's about to get very real for Longhorn football players. The last time we had a head coach that put as much emphasis on s&c, it was Coach Royal, when he had Frank Medina working UT football players like borrowed mules. I'm very confident the team is in great hands, and very confident that the days of a "soft" UT football team are over for good.

Heard isn't going to be here this spring. Don't know the reason, he has good grades so it was his choice.

Blake Whiteley should choose us as soon as he talks to Strong and he is enrolling early.

Strong is a very good recruiter but a lot of it is about position coaches and assistants. We need to make the right hires at assistant coach for all positions.

Strong is a heck of a recruiter. He will get a few that we thought we would not get. HOOK'EM

Heard was a half credit short of being able to grad early. Having him go through spring ball would have been huge.
