SignUp Now!I wouldn't object to adding burnt orange pants and/or helmet to our ensemble.I've never cared much for Denver's Uniform sets. Not since the 90's at least. With that said, I'm not suggest Texas "candy" anything up. I'm not even suggesting they adopt an alternate. I'm simply stating that it's more or less a foregone conclusion that it's going to happen. And by their inclusion in the Red River Rivalry set this year, I think they're already begin to sway their interests.
The Burnt Orange Helmet is what interests me most.I wouldn't object to adding burnt orange pants and/or helmet to our ensemble.
I dont think DKR thought it was a big edge or claimed vicrtory because of it. I did hear him say that it was one of the reasons he had the color changed, he thought it would help with hiding the ball with fakes. No he didn't consider it a big deal. It was the only time I met the man, and he was completely engaging and candid over dinner with about 12 folks there.I posted the video of Jim giving that history of the colors (above). The problem with claiming that Royal picked the color to help the team camouflage the ball is that he would have known it would have only made a difference in half the games, as the ball would have stood out when we wore our away whites. There is no evidence to show the team performed any better on the road than at home, so it probably would have been clear to him the jersey would not have hidden the ball. I am looking for a quote of Royals when he responded to when asked whether his team wanted to wear white or orange in a bowl game "I don't think the color of our jerseys is going to determine if we win or lose this game."
One of my favorite DKR stories was the one Joe Jamail tells about the night before his closing argument in the Pennzoil case.I dont think DKR thought it was a big edge or claimed vicrtory because of it. I did hear him say that it was one of the reasons he had the color changed, he thought it would help with hiding the ball with fakes. No he didn't consider it a big deal. It was the only time I met the man, and he was completely engaging and candid over dinner with about 12 folks there. He told stories for about 2 hrs after dinner, mostly answered questions and then just told stories from there. A fascinating fellow.
No, I think a matte finish is better for our classic look. Chrome is too gaudy.Chrome Burnt Orange!
I am 27 years old, and I apologize Coach if your were offended by my use of "old men" It wasn't my attention to come off as an ageist, I should have said the "grumpy you kids get off my lawn guy", stick in the mud, or curmudgeon..I like the word curmudgeon a lot.I love the "old men" slam. how old are you? will you stay that age forever? if so, good for you. maybe if not, you'll eventually realize how insulting your post is.
Nope...couldn't handle burnt orange leopard print unis. I don't mind the minor modifications that have been made to UT's unis in recent years, but I don't see that UT has to go to some God-awful alt uni to attract recruits. If the player is more concerned about the jersey he's wearing than coming to UT and developing into a solid, draftable football player, he's probably not one we want anyway. Digging swag and playing good football aren't mutually exclusive, but I personally am more interested in those players who want to up their game, rather than their gameday wardrobe. You could put it as complexly as you know how, and I would still say that personally I think it is just as silly to say we can pass on a player who sees alt uniforms as a "plus" or "cool", or wants likes "stylin" as you put it..Alt uniforms are a plus in recruiting, a plus is a plus. If Texas goes to a third, one game a year uniform, and win that game each year I am positive you won't care if they wear leopard print..
Okay, maybe I'm an old man but the Helmet should stay white.Chrome burnt orange helmet, white jersey, white pants.
I like the Storm Troopers but also think a burnt orange helmet would look pretty sweet with the whites. Who else in the nation has burnt orange helmets? Although, has to be PATONE 159. The worst are the bedazzled glitter helmets Texas Tech wears. Yuck!Okay, maybe I'm an old man but the Helmet should stay white.
Am I the only one that likes the stormtrooper outfits?
I truly hope not. That was a bit of thud, IMO. It did nothing for our uniform and was hardly noticeable. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't an improvement in any way, either.Texas already had an alternate set of Gold Plated Uniforms for their game against Oklahoma. Those will likely be worn again at some point.
I will go into years of seclusion and deep meditation should that happen. I'm fairly certain some others here would at least need some counseling after that.I like the Storm Troopers but also think a burnt orange helmet would look pretty sweet with the whites. Really? I thought the gold accents were awesome and I am a traditionalist. Then again, I would like to see one home game where we bust out all black Darth Vader uniforms with capes and light sabers for running out of the tunnel with the smoke.I truly hope not. That was a bit of thud, IMO. It did nothing for our uniform and was hardly noticeable. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't an improvement in any way, either.
Jim is absolutely correct. During WWII the die used to make burnt orange was in high demand and we could not get burnt orange uniforms. DKR just went back to the true colors.myth started by opponents. the original Texas orange was the dark/burnt orange, and that color is what DKR returned to. that had nothing to do with hiding the ball.
