REAL burnt orange

UT's colors are REAL burnt orange and white. UT's orange is NOT morning orange juice orange, it's not traffic cone orange, it's not Tennessee's Orange Julius orange...it is BURNT orange! I seriously hope one of the first changes Coach Strong makes is to get UT's uniforms back to BURNT orange. Mack started 'em out that way, but somewhere along the way, he changed the unis to something more resembling orange juice. PLEASE Coach Strong...take the unis back to the future...make 'em burnt orange. It would be a great way to honor Coach Royal!

Interestingly enough I got to talk with one of the marketing personnel in UT. They said they tend to lighten or darken the colors they use based on trends. Needless to say I told the lady that there is no trend with the official color, it is the official color. Really irks me.

Which trends? The trend of losing games? Maybe if we start winning more they'll give us darker uniforms again. Maybe that's why the basketball team has darker orange...

BTW. The Texas orange used to be bright orange similar to the Tenn orange. DKR changed it from bright orange to the darker orange so that when making fakes the qb could better camouflage the ball because our jerseys were similar in color to the football and made it tougher on the defense to see the ball during the fakes, which were much more common in the football of the 50's. When DKR made a uniform change he was always trying to win.

...a few years past, i started sporting some TEXAS ORANGE polos designed by UNDER ARMOUR brand. i'm talking real authentic burnt orange polos, that fans alike often complemented...

texas needs to put the ax to nike... then we shall see the difference.

NO alternate unis. No capes. No orange pants. No stripes that aren't already part of our unis. Some schools have classic unis...USC, 'Bama, even Okie. UT's uniforms are classic and need NO changes. Leave the candy-coating to the likes of Oregon, Baylor, Tech, Maryland and other such schools.

First, old men tend to be the best behaved and wisest in the room, regardless of where you are standing. But tradition doesn't equate to "old men." Oregon spends so much time being flashy and changing clothes at every turn because they spent most of the 20th century being irrelevant. Bama, Texas, etc., don't have to do that.

Second, I agree that we'll probably see an alternate uniform under Charlie Strong. If it's done once a year, I probably don't do it against OU. I do it against UCLA or maybe the bowl game.

No disrespect, but you're ignoring the fact that Texas makes changes to the Uniform almost every other year. The changes this past year were fairly drastic. Being a Uniform Snob myself, I'm in favor of Texas' maintaining their standard look. But Texas, Bama, Okie and USC, will all eventually have an alternate set of Uniforms. It appeals to recruits.

And while I find the whole "work clothes" thing fairly moving. That was a different era and a far different game. Like it or not, Football is considered to be a flashy sport now. And those are far more than work clothes, they're a brand. There is nothing wrong with improving upon a brand, so long as you don't butcher it in that effort to make improvements.

And in addition because I can't shutup about this topic, Texas already had an alternate set of Gold Plated Uniforms for their game against Oklahoma. Those will likely be worn again at some point.
