Post Game Thoughts

i was disappointed by the 3rd down play calling.  a screen now and then would do a team well.

i was wondering what happened to malik.  i didn't see him on the sidelines in the 2nd half...

on that last drive, oliver was open on the slat in the middle.  had buechele seen him, we would have won...

Malik is going through concussion protocol.

Thanks Harrison. Great summary. Regarding your point about there being a better coach out there, I totally agree. I would love to see Texas win the last 2 and have momentun going into recruting. It feels as if recruits already love Charlie and know what he has brewing and want to be a part of it. Herman has lost a little mojo and the 3 schools beng mentioned as possible destinations (Texas, usc, lsu) may not be on the market for a new coach. My question is, will Herman still be at Houston next year and be available if Charlie returns for year 4, but doesn't earn the 5th year?

That's a good question. It looks like all the spots that were supposed to be open won't be. Herman to Oregon is gaining some traction, and Phil Knight said he would pay the new coach $10M/year. Would Herman take that? I'm sure he would. However, I could also see him staying at Houston for another year.

So if Charlie beats KU is he back regardless of what happens in the last 2 games provided they are not blowouts? Or must he win the TCU game? Or must he run the table and a bowl win? I think if he wins at KU he is back regardless of the last 2 if they are respectable. If he loses to KU, he is gone. KU looks like a must win. No inside information, but just my opinion.

I hear you but I have lost count of how many "must" wins he has lost.

If Charlie is let go it has to be after the TCU game. They can't wait until the bowl game. If he isn't let go the Saturday after thanksgiving, then he is coming back. I have no inside info, but that's logical.

Strong will be back and the horns are improving. Dana Holgorsen is the biggest idiot, titty baby, nut case I've seen in a long time maybe ever. If I ever have/had someone treat me like he did his assistants or the refs I would knock their teeth out. I can't believe the University tolerates his behavior. He's up there with Bobby Knight minus the success. Unbelievable. If I knew we would win the next 15 national championships with Holgorsen as the coach or continue to be below .500 with Charlie it would be Charlie and I wouldn't even hesitate. Dana is an absolute classes joke and if I somehow get the opportunity I will tell him that straight to his face. Like the old saying goes "I wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire".

Good for you.

I for one am amazed how you are content with a head coach who is sub .500 after three years at 5 million per year.

This isnt a popularity contest.  Its football.  I want wins.

Did you throw a fit about Strong's temper tantrum during OSU game last year?

I agree Dana is a punk and should have been flagged multiple times but I dont buy into your diversion (atleast my coach is classier than yours) tactic.

This chart is my enthusiasm level from game 1 to the last game every single season since Strong has been head coach.

I am utterly jaded Mr Charlie Strong.  I doubt he ever wins here.  He has more talent than most teams yet finds a way to lose.  Why is that?  Ask Strong post game and he has the same reason 3 years later..."when you think about it...its execution."  derp

Strong is tops when it comes to discipline, a very good recruiter and scores high on player loyalty (not sure how much this matters when it comes to winning football games).  Beyond that, I have a hard time coming up with a coaching trait that he has excelled at while here.  I am seeing something completely different than RickFlair that would make him say the Longhorns "are improving."  Performance does not merit a fourth year, but I believe brevity does.  In some circles it is considered classless to fire a coach after only three seasons, so Texas will not.

I respectfully disagree every time I hear "may be coaching for his job" when referring to a game this year.  Baring an unmitigated disaster this year, he was always coming back in 2017.  CS will be back next year and truly coaching for his job at that time.  He was never really in jeopardy of losing his job this year.

My 2 cents - replace Strong if we lose to TcU and finish .500.

That sucks and should be unacceptable at UT. Is Herman a "can't miss" prospect? Who knows, but he's done more with less talent than CFS. I'm tired of the damn excuses.

Strong the defensive guru:

Total Defense:

107th out of 128 teams

Before someone spouts off about how we are in the offensive big 12 blah blah blah:

We rank 8th out of 10 teams in this weak conference in total defense!!!

So exactly how many years does this defensive guru need?  Gilbert fixed the offense for all intensive purposes (yea yea play calling but look at the yardage compared to last year).  How long did that take?  A couple of months?  So spare me with the freaking 4 year garbage.

Give me the national championships without any hesitation whatsoever.
