Tyler Murphy from Florida has announced he is transferring. According to the article he graduated yesterday. Wouldn't this allow him to play next year if he enrolls in a graduate program at UT? His numbers aren't stellar but he has seven games worth of experience.

1,216 yards passing, 6 TD, 5 int

3 rushing TDs

Coach Boom will go along (be happy) with the transfer QB to Texas, you bet.
If he finished his undergrad degree, he can play next year anywhere he wants as long as he enrolls in a graduate program they don't offer at Florida. That's how Russell Wilson switched from NC State to Wisconsin.

Would rather develop someone than try to take on a can't miss that missed somewhere else.

Agreed. Who knows if Ash will come back. Not sold on Swoopes. His skill set were a mirage playing in 2A competition. I would love to RS Heard, but his passing abilities are better than VY with the same physical build.

From a physical standpoint Swoopes is more a better comparison to VY than Heard is. The VY comparisons need to stop there. You're just doing a dis-service to both that way.

There are mechanics issues with both. Heard doesn't always consistently step into throws and Swoopes has a long slow release. Swoopes is the bigger project but I think both can be good. The only good thing that is that now there is two years of separation between the two.

That's true. It's always a dis-service comparing someone to a legend. I hope we get a couple of QBs through transfer because our QB depth is pretty crappy. Looking forward to QB battles in the spring. And I hope our OL is better.

Yeah going into next year with only 2 on the roster is terribly worrisome. Burton is hinting at a grad transfer that wouldn't be available until May but won't say his name. I'm thinking it could be Michael Brewer from Tech.

I wouldn't mind it. He has wheels but I wouldn't give up on Overstreet just yet. One thing I didn't like about Mack was his willingness to just let QBs transfer without a fight. I mean I don't know for a fact he didn't try to convince them but it always felt like we had a QB transfer every year and they go on and have success elsewhere. Jevan Snead at Ole Miss, GJ Kinne at Tulsa not to mention Bo Wallace and Nick Marshall doing big things. Connor Wood got benched but had a 400 yard passing game in Week 1. Can't remember the last 400 yard passing game Texas had. I don't want to think about what Connor Brewer will do for Rich Rod.

Either way, getting another QB in will be crucial and it will likely be a transfer from another school. Hopefully one that has immediate eligibility.

Overstreet shouldn't even be playing RB let alone QB.

I think you play your best QB, period. And that's going to be Heard, IMO.
