Brace yourself, Position Coaches are coming. Names being thrown out there right now:

Matt Mattox - OL - Tulsa

Chris Thomsen - OL - ASU (Per 247)

Mike Spradlin - OL - Temple HS (Per 247)

Rumors are circulating that Mattox may not be joining Gilbert after all. Thomsen was a name that we heard a lot during the Cumbie talks. Word has it that Gilbert is considering him as well. Thomsen would be a home run hire. Spradlin has a good connection with Gilbert and is well respected among the Texas HS ranks.

I'll throw Tony Levine's name out there.  He worked with Gilbert at UH.  He's got ST coaching experience at the NFL level and would absolutely kill it in Houston area recruiting.

Andrew Sowder - Played TE for Briles at Baylor and after graduating became a GA for TE's/WR's. Followed Babers to EIU where he worked on the staff with Giblet. Went to Bowling Green and became Recruiting Coordinator and coached Outside WR's.

I'd really like bringing Levine in as TE/ST coach. Make Traylor RB/Co-OC and let Levine take special teams and tight ends.

Maybe Thomsen wasn't a Cumbie 'package deal' as he was someone wanted to hire on their own.  Interesting.

Spradlin obviously speaks very very highly of Gilbert - and hired Gilbert to be his OC - but coming back to the college game would seem a bit of an odd career choice for Spradlin at this point.  Spradlin was with Briles at UH and left to become the HC at Abilene Cooper.  Maybe he wants to get back in the college game one more time - or maybe he has so much respect for Gilbert that he would want to go with him to Austin.

Levine would be a home run and then some. Spradlin would be an interesting choice as he has a great level of respect amongst the HS ranks. Would be a great recruiter for us too.

With the job Wickline has done this year he should be retained unless he wants out. Then new man wants his own guy.

Agreed Mike. Move Traylor to where he will be the most beneficial. Give him the Co-OC or AHC title.

What's happening with Mattox? I thought he was a package deal with Gilbert.

I'd like to see Levine on staff, too, for ST/TE

I believe they are a package deal. Well, I hope... Have you heard/read otherwise?

Whoever they get at RB will be very important. Will have a young stable of RBs with lots of talent and will need to be able to be a stud recruiter.

I think that Robinson is a great developer of talent as he's coached good backs everywhere hes been, and the job hes done with foreman and Warren has been phenomenal, so I would not be opposed to keeping him on staff, i do think that we need a STUD recruiter for our WR though, is anyone hearing any rumblings regarding possible staff additions?

And whats up with Brick Haley, I thought this guy was supposed to be an ace recruiter from LSU

Credit to 247/Burton for this information.

The big name floating around right now is Luke Wells. He is the Co-OC, Tight Ends Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Utah State. The most interesting part about this info is that Wells has only ever coached Tight Ends and Receivers. Meaning if he were to come in, it's likely that it would be to take over Traylor or Norvell's role. He's also coached at Denton High, Louisiana Monroe and Iowa State.

I imagine in this scenario, Wells takes over Tight Ends, Norvell sticks with Receivers and Traylor is moved to Running Backs coach. I think if we don't throw an AHC tag on Traylor, he could be gone.
