Pete Carroll

I don't understand why we'd want Carroll is Saban is willing to come? I think we can say that Saban is the better collegiate coach and has had more success..
I agree that Saban has had a better career, but don't the differences in SEC and Big 12 play concern you? Saban hates the hurry up / no huddle offenses and leans heavily on the ground game. I'm not so sure there are enough of those types of players in the Big 12 region to choose from. Carroll could just as quickly step in and get the program running with Texas recruits. Carroll was also one of the best recruiters nationwide.

Both are phenomenal coaches, I just think Carroll would fit in the Texas style smoother than Saban.

True, but I'd counter that as evidenced in the OU game and TCU; pounding the f*ck out of the rock against these smaller fronts works, if done correctly, with the proper personel, furthermore Alabam would run the table in the Big 12. Also, Saban typically recruits nationally...he'd have elite athletes in Texas to choose from, as well as all over the nation.

He's a great blend of nice dude for the media and great coach for the players. Just have to hire extra compliance staff....

With the staff payroll apparently heading well north of 8 figures, the extra staff should be easlly accommodated. Heck, put 'em on a bonus plan if (or when) needed:)

Lets do a little bit of speculation here. Let's say that things are as far along with Saban as we are led to believe and by the end of November Texas has reached a theroetical agreement in principal with Saban and in early December Carroll decides that he really would like the UT job. What ends up happening? Does UT stay with Saban or do an about face and move forward with Carroll? I have absolutely no clue which way they would go.

We are going with Saban

Is the NFL coach that has the most interest in the Texas job.
Darrell Royal quit coaching at age 52 with the feeling that if he couldn't win without cheating he would leave coaching. Have we really fallen so far as a program that we would consider the possibility of Pete Carroll as our coach? The guy had no care whatsoever about ethics his last time coaching college and when the facts finally caught up with him, he bailed and left others to clean up his mess. If Pete Carroll walks on the 40 Acres I will turn my back on the program.

Was it ever proven that Carrol was involved with the Bush deal? Not saying he doesn't bear some responsibilities but I'm not sure he was promoting cheating.

It was proven Carroll was responsible for the program and for making sure his athletes were in compliance with NCAA eligibility rules. If we give him the benefit of the doubt and say he was absolutely clean and innocent, then he has proven he is incapable of managing the compliance aspect of a major college program. Which do you want, complicit or an idiot? Take your choice. Either way, it happened on his watch over a period of years. We can't ignore that.

My man McPhaul is absolutely correct here. We are all in on Saban. It's only if something happens where Saban were to not be an option for one reason or another would we seriously begin courting the other options. In all honesty it's best all around if it's Saban...we have as close as we are going to get to a consensus backing him.

Pete Carroll has a great thing going in Seattle I don't see him leaving that to come to texas! He would be a good choice though!

why would Carroll come to Texas, he has a Superbowl contender in the NFL. Doesn't make sense. Not saying he wont but that is a head scratcher.

I don't want Carroll associated with the Texas program at all, ever. I still think the guy is a dirty, douche bag.

Did he get a show cause over the Bush thing before he bolted back to the NFL (because he knew he was caught red handed)?

But not with Saban, who is still shady. Other then Franklin, every single coach in the sec has done dirty stuff and maybe even Franklin. Most coaches in the nation at least turn a blind eye to it. I dont like cheating but there is a difference btw some things(texting on days u are not suppose to make contact with recruits, etc.) and sending a bag of cash to a recruit like Aggie did for RSJ. I am not a proponent of sending bags of cash but the playing field needs to be even. IF the NCAA isnt going to so shit about SEC cheating then they are saying it is ok to do.

It will be interesting to see what happens in a few years when things change, will the NCAA even exist? To me, the NCAA is the worst run, corrupt organization that exists.

For the life of me I can not see Carroll leaving Seattle, or showing interest. I have to say I like him a lot more at Seattle than I did at USC. I wouldn't hate the idea of him being here at all.
