Pete Carroll

Of the NFL coaches mentioned as candidates he would be my choice!

Exactly who I thought it was. Carroll is one of only 3 coaches to have won multiple titles so you can't really argue with his success. And with his personality I think he'd be an absolute homerun here. I don't see how he leaves Seattle though. They are poised to make Super Bowl runs.

I'd take my chances with Tomlin first. Don't need any Reggie Bush scenarios here in Austin. I think Pete has the right temperament and personality for the job though.

He's doing well in Seattle. Why would he want to leave there, miss the college game, realize the resources at Texas? And thanks mcphaul.

FYI Carroll currently makes $7 million a year as the HC of the Seahawks so if we're actually going after him there's no way he's taking a paycut. So we are definitely in the $7-8 mil range starting off whether we go PC or Saban. Makes all the posts about absurd money being thrown around accurate.

And if we're really starting in the $7-8 range for the HC, that means we're looking at $12-15 mil a year for the whole staff if we are actually going to pay them enough to keep them around.

if both want to come, who do yall like more Saban or Carroll? both are similar age and should get similar salary.

i still like Saban but Carroll is a good option.

I think a comparison between Saban and Carroll is going to be my next story...

Saban, I'm with Knightrain on this one. I could see Tomlin having great success at Texas.

Carroll may actually be seeking a raise. I hate these types of comments but it doesn't make sense to make a change with what he has rolling in Seattle. That team is young, VERY young and they will be in the playoff picture for years.

Maybe he misses the college game or dry weather. Seems like a pay-raise to me though.

Well, if we win multiple titles we would make that back several times over.

Carroll has been my number one dream for a coach. Saban is right behind him though. Reason being is that I'm not sure how Saban would handle recruiting here in Texas where the spread is so dominant.

If Texas were to offer Carroll 8-9 million a year to coach here, I'd be all for it.

I don't understand why we'd want Carroll is Saban is willing to come? I think we can say that Saban is the better collegiate coach and has had more success..

I like Carroll better but, I would be please with either one.
