Very interesting.  Maybe all Hell is about to break lose.  This marks the end of the NCAA as we have known it.

"The NCAA is working on a new governance structure that will allow the five wealthiest conferences to make some rules without the support of smaller Division I schools."

I will go along with this educated advancement of D1 College Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Track, Swimming, Tennis, Soccer and all other sports. This only for the Big 5. So what do we do now.

Texas needs to be out front on this, and they need to drag the Big 12 out front with them.
While I agree with the first part of your statement, I disagree wholeheartedly with the second part.

Texas does need to be out in front of this, but forget the Big12 and hauling along that sack of potatoes.  That's why we are in the conference we are in.  We stayed with the SWC ship as it sunk.  And now we're on the Big12 ship, and while not exactly sinking, there is a crack in the hull that could burst open at any moment.  We have an easy route to a playoff.  Other than that, this is not where we'll end up long-term.

Apologize for taking up bandwidth folks, but I've reached my 'positive message limit' for the day! What? Guess it's time to be negative...

I have been waiting for this move for at least 15 years. Please let it happen! I will bet that Powers and Patterson are 100% behind this. It's about time! Of course the NCAA will scramble to try to save its cash cow, but imo, it is far to little, and far too late.

Hook 'em, Charlie!

I keep seeing people commenting about how the Big 12 is "sinking" and it is "doomed", ad infinitum.

Somebody please explain to me how that is the case?  Because, honestly, I see no evidence of it.

Pac 12 is a leader in everything right now. Most schools in the Pac 12 have improved their coaching staffs and are working on improving the talent level. All of them are improving their facilities right now.

The Pac 12 as well as the B1G formed their own Network. They didn't sit around with their damn hands out waiting for POS ESPN to come hand them a wad of cash, they went out and did it on their own.

Texas didn't do anything other than sit back and let ESPN hand them a bunch of money for a worthless network that nobody can see. Now, the SEC, instead of moving forward and using their own resources to form a network have the ESPN thugs doing the same to them and the SEC fans are up in arms because a large portion of their fans won't get the SEC Network.

I live in Texas and I get the Pac 12 Network and I like it a lot. Can't see LHN and it's been around for several years now. Probably won't see it next season either and I really don't give a rats ass anymore. I am over it.

I'll just watch USC or UCLA or Stanford on the Pac 12 Network. Big 10 Network will probably never be out here and who knows on the SEC, supposedly it will be which means West Texas will still be viewing Aggie sports, and Baylor and Texas Tech, even OU. But, nothing involving UT will be on the air here other than a few football games. Before the LHN, every game was shown on the tube in all of West Texas. Now, the cable companies tell us this is Tech territory which it really isn't.

As for Texas being out front and a leader, no thanks on that one. Those that don't drink the Kool Aid will tell you that we may have been responsible for ruining the SWC and the Big 12 as well. Aggies left us with egg all over our faces

Yes, to save the question, I am pissed off and extremely bitter about it.

It's always about the money..... The conferences will realign in the next few years and the Big 12 will survive. It will however be a full 12 schools if not 16(2 -8 team divisions). I believe the dollar will eventually force the super conferences. Just my thoughts.....

I'm not sure anything you said is factually accurate. In fact I think it is mostly horseshit.

Well, for starters, the conference is not getting any new teams with any real huge TV markets.  Don't tell me Louisville/BYU.  Notre Dame ain't coming.  Our 12-team conference of 10 is really limited in potential new members.  The conference cannot add schools with inherent value, and that is what it's all about; the almighty dollar.

The academic/research side of things also has to be taken into account.  That's a significant consideration for the powers that be.  It's not all about athletics.

The teams in the Big12 are, (speaking football,) limited to two that should be at-minimum top 10-15 every year.  If one of them falters, that leaves you with one.  That hurts recruiting as well as TV viewership.  Add to that the matchups like Texas/TCU, Texas/Iowa St., Texas/Kansas etc., which don't really drive viewers outside of Texas and those respective markets.  These games are, for the most part, not nationally interesting.  And it's not limited to Texas games.  What about TCU/KState?  Ok St./Baylor?  etc. etc.

IF ou were to leave, Texas is again left holding the bag and trying to piece together a conference membership that works.  I don't see ou leaving w/o Texas, and vice versa.  Colorado, Mizzou, aggy, all left while the leaving was good.

I can also see a day with super conferences.  I would love for it to happen.  I also realize that football is not the be-all, end-all.  There has to be consideration for other non-revenue sports as well. While I selfishly would love to see Texas Baseball play in the Pac12 conference regularly, I realize that this takes a toll on funds, academics and the players/coaches/staffs as well.

There has to be a happy medium to balance out everything.

There ends my rambling.  Ha!

EDITED

Let's go over my post almost word for word and you point out one thing that is horse shit.

Every school has improved their coaching staffs inn the last few years other than Oregon.

Every school is improving their facilities.

The Pac 12 schools as well as the B1G schools grouped toegther and forme a Network. Fox is a minority owner.

The LHN is still not available in large portions of Texas.

The University of Texas and the SEC schools all let ESPN seduce them with the money and now ESPN has control of where the networks are shown.

I get the Pac 12 Network in my area. \

Tell me one of those points is horseshit. Just one of them and I will retract all of them.

I watched every damn Pac 12 Spring Game and they all showed their facilities other than Washington State who played their game in Spokane due to construction in their stadium.

I'll take it a step further, sometimes it's best not to comment, post, when your emotions have control of you logic. If your that pissed off, maybe it would serve you best if you wait to get all the facts. Are you the type person that yells "fire the Coach!" when the left tackle trips over his own feet and allows a sack on the games first play? Sounds like you may be.

Well, then take it even one more step further and tell me what I am wrong about.

I have never been a fire the coach kind of guy.
