Pac-12 Stirring the Pot

Pac 12 is a leader in everything right now. Most schools in the Pac 12 have improved their coaching staffs and are working on improving the talent level. All of them are improving their facilities right now.

The Pac 12 as well as the B1G formed their own Network. They didn't sit around with their damn hands out waiting for POS ESPN to come hand them a wad of cash, they went out and did it on their own.

Texas didn't do anything other than sit back and let ESPN hand them a bunch of money for a worthless network that nobody can see. Now, the SEC, instead of moving forward and using their own resources to form a network have the ESPN thugs doing the same to them and the SEC fans are up in arms because a large portion of their fans won't get the SEC Network.

I live in Texas and I get the Pac 12 Network and I like it a lot. Can't see LHN and it's been around for several years now. Probably won't see it next season either and I really don't give a rats ass anymore. I am over it.

I'll just watch USC or UCLA or Stanford on the Pac 12 Network. Big 10 Network will probably never be out here and who knows on the SEC, supposedly it will be which means West Texas will still be viewing Aggie sports, and Baylor and Texas Tech, even OU. But, nothing involving UT will be on the air here other than a few football games. Before the LHN, every game was shown on the tube in all of West Texas. Now, the cable companies tell us this is Tech territory which it really isn't.

As for Texas being out front and a leader, no thanks on that one. Those that don't drink the Kool Aid will tell you that we may have been responsible for ruining the SWC and the Big 12 as well. Aggies left us with egg all over our faces

Yes, to save the question, I am pissed off and extremely bitter about it.
what have you cited that's unique to the pac 12 re 'leadership'?

improved coaching staffs? i'd argue UT just did. and who else is really in the market in the big 12? ou, osu, kst, baylor, isu, tt and tcu are just fine with their guy. is ku going to do better than weis? wvu maybe the only one in the market soon. The pac12's flagship program is now being led by the underwhelming steve sarkisian.

working on improving their talent level ? no kidding. what school in what conferecne isn't? it's called recruiting.

working on improving facilities? UT, osu and tcu all recently finished big upgrates. ou and isu announced this spring they are doing the same. hell, baylor built a new stadium.

that worthless LHN will be picked up by Dish this summer. distribution problem largely solved. No idea how many SEC fans are up in arms, but hitching your wagon to ESPN isn't usually a bad thing.

Texas ruining the swc is laughable. the cheating scandals of smu, aggy, tcu took care of that.

Texas needs to be out front on this, and they need to drag the Big 12 out front with them.
Maybe folks just don't pay attention or it's just fashionable to bash the University, the Athletic Department and the football program but Texas HAS led on this issue as much or more than any other school. Dodds was one of the first AD (probably THE first) to publicly speak out in favor of a playoff and he was one of the first to advocate for full scholarships and pretty much every other thing the Pac is calling for.

I know what people say about DD but he left some pretty big shoes for Patterson to fill. That said, I think Patterson and Strong were fantastic hires and the future is bright.

I doubt the P5 conferences break away, personally I wish they would, but we will see something like a Div. 4 and sooner rather than later. And all this only reinforces the Big 12 conference as one of the big boys.

The LHN coming to parts of Texas after 3 or 4 years on a lousy Dish system is fine with people that have it on their regular cable provider, I would more than just guess.

The SWC scandals were in the 80s and the SWC fell apart in the 90s and we should have left when Arkansas did and not tried to carry the little fellas. I n

I could dispute everything else StreettoPeschel posted but I am not that crazy guy on Orangebloods with a few hundred thousand posts. I do wonder why one would be underwhelmed with Sarkisian when he took a really, really bad team and made them very competitive in a hurry. But, to each his own.

Have nice lives fellas. I am done with it
