Larry Scott says the conference will not be expanding. This means OU will need to find a home elsewhere or keep the Big XII intact and add more teams. Aggies should be happy about this.

Just what the A&M wants. Now their sorry butts get to leave because OU will end up staying in the Big XII. Hopefully Texas stays and keeps the LHN and the conference together.

The conference realignment discussion within the Big XII schools is funny. Maybe BYU will want to join the Big XII now after they got beat by the Horns. On the air waves all I have heard is that OU will dictate the future of the Big XII. This could not be further from the truth. OU might want to think about doing everything it can to make sure the Big XII stays alive. Folks, OU is not an attractive school to other conferences because Oklahoma is a SMALL STATE and has no tv market.

I read where he said it is his preference to not expand..This my not be his decision..ESPN is reporting that if they do take new members it will only be two.

Yeah, I read the same report. They would accept 2 more in a heartbeat if the teams were right. I need to dig to find out the latest with the potential lawsuit against the Aggies. I know OU was supposed to make up its mind soon regarding their intentions with the Big XII. I hope they drag it out and make A&M sweat it a little more.

I pray the existing teams in the Big XII keep the conference together for the sake of Texas. We cannot go independent!

So true. Oklahoma and OSU are only interesting to people around from the state of Oklahoma. The Pac 12 is only gonna add teams they think can feed into their conference profits. The best way for them to do that is to add Boise State and TCU. Those two schools alone have gotten more national attention then the entire Pac 10/12 in the last 3 years. If the Pac 12 wants to gain viewers they have to pick up Boise not OU.

The Boise grab would be good for the PAC12, not sure about TCU. The Horned Frogs are a team that have always thought they could play with the Big Boys of Texas and you are right - they have pushed the doors of the BCS down and stirred the pot a bit. Just not sure they would get the attention of the West Coasters. Very hard to understand an Oklahoma move out West but I guess nobody else will have them and they feel like time is running out.

The glue of the Big XII ends in Norman, Oklahoma. This is what I have heard for the last 3 weeks. I am tired of this crap and say let the land stealers go! Let Baylor sue aggy and let Texas go indy! DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS.

With the realignment talk I read the following in an ESPN article:

One problem with a Big 12 break up is that many of the schools in the conference have already spent or set in motion projects to spend money based on television revenue projections, a source within the Big 12 said.
Regardless of all the discussion it appears that many schools are in this category. Oklahoma included.

OU is gone and it is time for the conference to realize it. It is time for us to go independent or find a suitable conference that will allow us to keep our network. This nonsense has gone on long enough. I am tired of all that jibberish!

As much as I would hate to see us go independent... I think it does carry some interesting possibilities. First off, it lets us keep the Longhorn Network, which is obviously a positive for UT athletics as well as promoting the university as a whole. Being an independent also allows us to keep up our rivalry games. It will be a lot easier to keep playing and beating Oklahoma and A&M if we do not have to work around conference schedules. Also as in independent, we could have one heck of a schedule against big name opponents. I personally would not mind seeing UT bash heads with Notre Dame every year. I mean think about all the publicity that game would get. The problem with going independent is obviously BCS bids. Unless the NCAA changes something (which we all know they won't) we would probably have to run the table every year to get a shot at a title. No conference play also means no chance for a conference championship which less opportunities to fill the trophy case. No matter what happens, I do not want to see Texas in the ACC. I just do not like the idea of having to travel 1,000+ miles for every away game. It makes it really hard to get the fans to come out and support every game.

I think it is important to note that Texas is receiving a lot of criticism about the Longhorn Network but how many schools would turn down 300 mil over 20 years AND the opportunity to exclusively partner with ESPN on a tv deal? Answer - NONE. The LHN critics need to chill out a bit... Now, I am not a fan of Texas going indy and would actually rather see them play in the ACC if the Big XII disintigrates as a result of the OU and A&M moves (which it will). Look, the PAC whatever are a bunch of candy stripe schools and Texas just doesn't fit. Not that they fit in the ACC but the ACC has some storied national chamionship caliber programs like Miami, Florida State... Va Tech is a good program too. The academics of the ACC universities are not subpar either (Duke, UVA, GA Tech, etc...). ACC is a BCS conference and Texas would most likely get to keep its network.

The ACC just does not sound very appealing but it might be the Horns' best option.

Man, the ACC is a hard sell for Texas fans. I understand the school's desire to play "up" in terms of time zones for the student-athlete issue but playing Duke and the Ramblin' wreck and Virgina do not do much for me.
