Overstreet - I was able to confirm with his mother. Future plans are unknown right now but I wouldn't be surprised to see him go JUCO route to get things in order.

All of this comes as a surprise to me. When school let out for the summer I ran into him at school function in Tatum and we talked for a while. At that time it seemed he had a good head on his shoulder, looking forward to everything.. He also said he really liked the new coaching staff.

Overstreet didn't play much through the first 7 or 8 games but he has been invaluable to the Bearkats as they finished the season and are making their run through the FCS playoffs.

He's every bit the athlete you'd expect a Texas recruit to be, and has finally started to use ithat athleticism against his FCS opponents.

He's been a model citizen for the Bearkats - here's hoping he can keep it together and get his degree.

Life is full of choices and even good kids make bad ones sometimes. Best of luck to this young man. I hope he can turn things around and grow into a role model for others.

One of the toughest things for a collegiate staff is turning the "athlete" recruit into a productive player at a set position.  In the Big XII, TCU has been far and away the most successful program with these type of players and has led to their growth as a program.  Overstreet fell into this category as he never was going to project into a QB at the FBS level.  Now, other things led to the young man having to go the FCS route, but pleased he is doing well and look forward to watching UT in the future develope this type of player under the current staff.
