OT: Valentine's Day Ideas

Alright folks, lets hear your ideas for V-Day gifts/date night for your significant other.

I'll start:

We don't usually buy gifts for each other, so I won't break that tradition. Instead, Im surprising her with an indoor picnic dinner and a movie for her/us. I'll be cooking lasagna and dessert will be white chocolate fondue (bought one for $29 at target), since we're big fans of the melting pot.

Valentines Day really sneaked up on me this year as my fiancee and I have been devoting all of our attention to the wedding and etc. Thus, I went the very cliche route this year. 100 Bloomed Flowers, a box of her favorite chocolates and a spa package. Next year I'll be more creative.

I'm planning on watching "Breakfast at Tiffany's" with her. Haven't seen it yet.

Can anyone tell me if it's a good Valentine's Day movie? It looks old. Probably something Armadillo Slim or Pockey would like...maybe even echeese.

It's either that or "10 Things I Hate About You".

i'm a romantic sumbitch 365, so it's just another day in our house. a hallmark card or two. that's it.

if i brought home a bunch of flowers, fondue and s**t, she'd probably think it was guilt over having an affair. can't risk it.

Get two copies and a bottle of champagne. Each of you fill out the book (while drinking a glass or two of champagne) and when you finish, exchange books and talk about how each of you filled in the responses. It will really make you think about things and will make for some really interesting relationship discussions.

My favorite valentine's day gift I ever received was a shopping bag with a large, blank canvas from the art supply store, a half dozen tubes of washable acrylic paint and two bottles of champagne. I was somewhat clueless as we sat around drinking the first bottle of champagne. About halfway through the bottle, it was explained to me (I won't say how) that the gift was an impression of her breasts on the canvas and I got to be the painter. Once the paint was properly positioned (with great care), she placed the impression upon the canvas and we then used our fingers to paint in a torso outline and a belly button. The second bottle of champagne was for cleaning off the paint in the shower. The picture hung above my bed until we broke up and I gave it back to her. I sure miss that picture.

SFlonghorngirl just keep on doing what I have been doing the last 47 years. Let my wife know she and the family will always be number 1 in my life. But the Longhorns are second and she is ok with that. My friends y'all have a great week

...all of these "holidays" are starting to run upon each other. i mean, it's like they just do not allow for us followers / patrons to actually finish recuperating as per the last one. people are starting to become a bit saturated as per the hoopla. this usually leads to desperate acts for appeasement (people purchasing just about anything).... or just all out boredom with the whole monotony.

therefore, i say... just whisper "happy valentines" to your loved one (s) shout out your "i love you's" should this be necessary.... and continue to finish paying your credit card bills, as per the last overly commercial holiday. just saying.

Ahhh, Breakfast at Tiffany's. Blake Edwards finest. Where i fell for Audrey. My wife's and daughters all time favorite movie.

If you like it, you should check out several other Blake Edwards movies. Ever seen 10?

The Wifey and I will be going to see Winter's Tale. She's excited but frankly, I'd rather be going to see The Winter's Tale by The Bard, even though it one of my least favorite Shakespearean plays.

I'm making homemade dipped strawberries that I plan on sneaking into the theatre.

1) Don't go out on Friday, if you want to go out, wait till Saturday, it will cost less and you will get a better atmosphere.

2) If you live in Austin, skip the $50+ roses online, go to Freytag's on Anderson Ln for fresher roses you can deliver in person for warm hugs & kisses

3) Friday night is going to be nice, grill out lamb chops or salmon. Serve the chops with (garlic) mashed potatoes and fresh green beans with chopped red bell peppers/little red onion. Serve the salmon with asparagus (thick spears grilled out with olive oil and a little garlic), boil up a bag of rice.

Buy a couple bottles of wine and some chocolate something. HEB always has a container of chocolate chips I can't recall the name of near their fresh strawberries. It's real simple to microwave the container of chips and roll washed/dried strawberries on a toothpick around in the liquefied chocolate for your own creation guaranteed to be a hit.
