I am taking in-laws and nieces to San Antonio in March. They are from out of state. They want to see the Alamo. I haven't been to San Antonio in about 15 years. I know there has been a lot of changes since I have been there. I told them it could be busy on Saturday.

We are planning to park at the Tower and have dinner there later in the day. After seeing the Alamo I suggested we go to the River Walk (boat). Any recommendations for restaurants that is good for families? Any other suggestions? I appreciate everyone's help. Thanks!

Casa Rio has always been a good family place. If you're looking for a higher end option check out Luke, Boudro's, or Biga on the Banks

I've only been in SA since '08 so some of the lifers will know more than me but you really can't miss with any of the restaurants on the river, IMHO. (Just stay away from Dick's Last Resort if you want to stick to the family vibe). I like Casa Rio but it does get crowded sometimes, especially on the weekends. Also, if you want some unique shopping in that area try visiting La Villita. It's right off the river and has a lot of small local shop, very nice and something different.

*Didn't realize the name of the restaurant would get me censored, lol. It's D I C K's, like the name not anything else. :D

Everyone has their favorite mexican food, but we like Casa Rio as well. Boudros has good food. Mi Tierra at Market Square is good. If you have money to burn and need a gut bomb, Foca de Chao is across from the Rivercenter...about 50% cheaper if you go for lunch.

For the kiddos, there is a Rainforest Cafe along the River Walk.

not on the riverwalk, but Mi Tierra is awesome and they could shop at market square as well

For good Tex-Mex and Mexican, I highly recommend Don Pedro down Military Dr. south of downtown. If the weather is cold, go with the caldo de res or caldo de pollo, but go for lunch as they usually run out of caldo in the afternoon. Also, Ray's drive inn down on SW 19th and Castroville Rd. They are one of many places that lay claim to the inventor of the puffy taco. I would also recommend Los Barrios on Blanco Rd. Lastly, for a VERY cold schooner of beer and a good hamburger steak, check out MK Davis on S. Flores.

Listen to this man. He knows good food. Didn't mention these because they're not on the river walk but if you're off the beaten path, all of them are great choices.

I recommend that you stay at the JW Marriott. It is a good way from Downtown but a very nice place.
