OT: Desolation of Smaug

Any good? Compared to the previous Hobbit?

Wife wants to go tomorrow, neither of us have read reviews. Thought I'd ask you guys.

We saw it last night at the Alamo Drafthouse in 3D and liked it better than the first Hobbit movie. I loved seeing Legolas in action in his early years, and the new female elf character Tauriel. Great movie IMO!

Ok, cool, and thanks for the feedback. The first one felt almost like a roller coaster to me. So it's good to hear this one is better.

Almost everything that was wrong with the pacing and inanity of the first one is corrected here. The content also feels far more intricate and seems to have more gravity (moving closer to Smaug instead of still being worlds away helps this).

Glad to hear that. The pacing was what kept me stir crazy in the first one. Looking forward to this one tonight. Don't hire a coach while I'm gone. ha ha
