Per Brian Davis from the Statesman, Orlando will stay at Texas for the next season:
No LB has worn #60 in a few decades I believe. Britt Hager? Brian Jones? I wish that tradition would return to the 40 acres. That is great news.
Orlando, IMO, would be very wise to be very particular about a head coaching gig.
I think Herman will do great things here, and Orlando can write his own ticket. Texas knows his value, as does Herman, and the money men.
Not every program appreciates great defense the way Texas does, but the Program that honors linebackers by letting them wear #60 certainly does.
Just my opinion.
He did say “plan” but listening to his presser this evening it was evident he loves the horns and has major respect for Herman. Herman calling him to UH from Utah st still has a significant impact on Orlando. I think he stays 1 more year because he knows the horns Could make a real run next year. And that will only help his futureThe key word is "plan" and we all know plans can change. Hate to be the realist here and I hope he styas but he is leaving the door open.
I hate the practice of retiring numbers. 60 was great and could be used as a mighty recruiting tool.... along with 20 and 34. Hang the jerseys up somewhere - display them on the "wall of fame" as done in DKR. But STOP RETIRING NUMBERS!No LB has worn #60 in a few decades I believe. Britt Hager? Brian Jones? He wanted the job in UH and interviewed for it. What makes us think if another job the equivalent of UH comes along he won't take it? He had to say what he said. I sincerely hope we get one more year out of him. He is a brilliant DC.... and may or may not be a good HC.He did say “plan” but listening to his presser this evening it was evident he loves the horns and has major respect for Herman. 60 was never retired I believe, nobody choose to wear it over the years. Maybe we need coaches to honor certain players to wear it each year? 20 is retired, not sure about any other numbers.I hate the practice of retiring numbers. 60 was great and could be used as a mighty recruiting tool.... along with 20 and 34. I know I'm on a lonely island here. S
