It occurred to me that this weekend had two plays that were both very exciting, very different, and could have far reaching consequences for the rules committee.

One was BJ Foster blowing up the USC WR and rightfully being flagged for targeting. We can debate all day whether the rules should be amended but under current rule, this was the correct call.

The other play was the fake fair catch by the NT player that allowed him to go untouched for a TD to the total humiliation of The Arky punt team.I think we can all agree that if ever a team deserved to be humiliated, it is Arky.

The thing is that on the one hand, over aggression gets flagged, but on the other, under aggression gets you as a forever internet laughing stock. I think both players were trying to do what they were taught to do. My question is ....what is a defender supposed to do? Duffy Daugherty once said that dancing was a contact sport, football was/is a collision sport.  So the DC starts telling his guys....OK we are going to beat the crap out of them, but we are going to do it nicely?

funny game this football

Okay, maybe I'm missing something. Exactly what did the Arkansas players see that made them think that a fair catch had been called? I'm not seeing anything the returner did that even remotely suggests he called for a fair catch. And I've watched it and watched it. Why one of the Arkansas didn't just flatten him just boggles my mind.

On a kick return note...the tcu guy who lies down in the end zone in order to camo himself, then pops up for a throw back.  Picked that up from Saban right?

I thought he made a slight gesture with his left hand. More out to the side than up. That along with his body language fooled the first three piggies up the field.

My point was....the next time a piggy even thinks he didnt see a signal he will level the guy. Anyway....one guy punished for over aggression, the other, well...now an internet legendary dumbass

And suddenly, North Texas is good. Blasted Arkiesaw (SEC! SEC! SEC!) and is undefeated.

This is end times stuff.

You play until you hear the whistle. And yes, Arkansas screwed up big time.

Brett Bilesma is feeling orgasmic as we speak....oh wait, that is actually ED.  I have referred him to our Jacomides urology thread.
