Oh Aggy.

I was driving home from work the other day (I live in the Austin area) and in front of me was this truck driven by an aggy parent. There were aggy this & aggy that stickers on the back window but what was smack in the middle of it all? The $ec sticker. Funny, in all the years before they left I never once saw aggy with SWC or XII stickers on their vehicles.

I wonder if our friend aggyMike has a bunch of $ec stickers all over his cars/trucks?
In fairness, you'd co-brand everything SEC too if you had to sell fake army and Collie Station.

Just sayin'

I have repeatedly said we can be sure there were no aggys at the Alamo because at the Alamo there was no one wanting to build an independent nation that was merely the equal of places like Mississippi or Alabama.

Only in the aggy mindset does "Texas exceptionalism" equate to "just one of many equals."

We all know that two of aggie's claimed NCs are BS. No fewer than three of Bama's are too. *1941, *1964, *1973, etc.

SEC SEC SEC

Well, J.B., we claim 1970...and I don't think that's right, given the Cotton Bowl whipping

Notre Dame put on Texas. I guess back then, the NC champs were picked BEFORE

the bowl games. I just never have agreed with that, the bowl games should have always

mattered.

Agree, we shouldn't claim 1970.

But we're a helluva lot more conscientious about claiming titles than aggie or most SEC teams.

Texas was awarded the NC by the UPI prior to losing to Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl. The UPI's #2 team, Ohio State, also lost to Stanford in the Rose Bowl that season. Nebraska had been #3 but their win over LSU in the Orange Bowl made them the AP champion. Texas and Ohio State also shared a 1970 title awarded by the National Football Foundation. Arizona State did not wind up at the top of any polls but had the only season of the teams listed here without either a loss or a tie.

I think, in those days, the NC was awarded in the UPI poll BEFORE the bowl games...AP poll declared the

NC AFTER the bowl games. Caused some controversy several years...I guess people and sports pollsters

finally wised up.

While we're on the topic of NCs...I have always wondered, if we had beaten Georgia in the Cotton Bowl on 1/1/1984...

entering that day, Nebraska was #1, Texas #2.  We lost early in the day, Miami was aware of that and they played

"over their heads" IMO that night to beat Nebraska in an epic game. I guess Miami saw us lose and realized if they

could upset Nebraska, they would claim the NC. My point is, had Texas won that day, would Miami have been just

as fired up? And if Texas had won and Miami still upset NU, would we have been undisputed winner of the NC?

One of the funniest aggy narratives is that the '12 season proves Sumlin can be an elite coach. Look at the talent Sherman left Sumlin that year. Those guys were all listed as starters on the preseason depth chart. So almost half of Sumlin's starters that year will be drafted round 6 or higher. This doesn't even include other players like Terrell, Jenkins and Stewart who have also had stints in the NFL.

Johnny Manziel-1st round
Christine Michael-2nd round
Mike Evans-1st round
Ryan Swope-6th round
Luke Joeckel-1st round
Jake Mathews-1st round
Cedric Ogbuehi-1st round
Damontre Moore-3rd round
Sean Porter-4th round
Jarvis Harrison-maybe top 3 round draft pick.
