***Official Update Thread***

Give us a hint on the OC you are hearing about. What conference is the guy you are hearing about from?

Just posted it to the update thread, but I'm hearing that Tim Brewster is close to being wrapped up. Brewster is Florida State's ace recruiter, and he obviously has some skins on the wall from his time here under Mack Brown. I'm also still chasing some OC news.
Bang. Get him signed and let the dog off the leash on the elite kids in state.

Didn't Florida State have a lot of Texas kids in recently for an official visit? I would bet Brewster was the main guy on that one. Have a feeling one of the Longhorns position of wealth (LB) might suffer this year with Browning and Hines as EES and Levi Jones out of the picture now. Any chance either of the first two rethink it now?

All of the elites visited for the Clemson game. Browning, Little, Okudah, Wilson etc.

I wonder if Stan Drayton is a name we could hear about in the OC Search. Drayton worked under Meyer for years but more importantly, operated as the RB Coach for Ohio State while Herman was OC. Drayton was the RB Coach for guys like Ezekiel Elliott, Carlos Hyde and Dan Herron. He was a WR Coach at one point at Ohio State as well. He took an NFL RB Coach gig with the Bears but I'm sure he'd be very interested in the OC Position at Texas. He's a good coach and a good recruiter. He locked down the following names that you may recognize:

Ezekiel Elliott

Cam Newton

Maurkice and Mike Pouncey

Riley Cooper

Mike Weber (Tearing it up at Ohio State now)

Just a thought. I could be completely mistaken but I think this is an option to consider.

Edit: Forgot to mention. Drayton had a pretty good relationship with Coach Strong as well.

Has anyone mentioned Paul Rhodes as an option for DC? IIRC Herman mentioned his name at some point in the presser, he knows the Big12!

Alabama just got another LB commit today so Browning probably to tOSU which stinks, I'll be glad to not see them around these parts anymore.

Hammster over at gagem said Texas is not even remotely an option for Hines so take that for what it's worth coming from that clown.

We'll, if Hamm says Texas is not an option then that tells me there is hope. I can't count how often he is so wrong.

He's among my favorite coaches in the state, and he will be a nightmare as a recruiter.
He loves his kids. His kids walk through walls of him. He would quickly be one of if not the best recruiter out there. He is also respected by other coaches. Joey is a great dude. I have had many conversations with him. He is genuine as they come.

So the out of left field OC was possibly coaching, yesterday?  Kyle Shanahan?

Orlando would be a good DC to have, but if he and Aranda are not in the running:

Gibson  DC West Virginia

Wilcox  DC Wisconsin

Leavitt  DC  Colorado

Collins  DC Florida

Venables  DC Clemson

need to be flirted with.  Really, we need someone that understands Big 12 offense.  Orlando, Gibson and Venables would be three that stick out.
