OCs with WR Coaching Experience

From a news report a year ago when Groh was hired to coach at Chicago... I agree with derpyhormdog on the caution here.

=========

"Five weeks after he was hired, Marc Trestman went to the college ranks to complete his coaching staff.

Specifically, he went to the staff of Nick Saban’s national championship team at Alabama to get the job done. The Bears hired Mike Groh, son of former New York Jets coach and longtime NFL assistant Al Groh, to become their wide receivers coach.

Mike Groh was the wide receivers coach/recruiting coordinator for the Crimson Tide and was in his second stint at the school. A former quarterback at Virginia, he also coached at UVA and Louisville. He spent 2000 as an offensive quality control assistant under his father with the Jets.

In Chicago, Mike Groh inherits a Pro Bowl wide receiver in Brandon Marshall and a talented second-year player in Alshon Jeffery. The position group had largely underachieved before Marshall arrived last season.

He is the second assistant to depart Alabama for the NFL. Offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland left to join Chip Kelly’s staff with the Philadelphia Eagles."

Mike Groh hasn't been a coordinator since 2008.

His highest rated offense was 101 in the country.

Doesn't have a spread background and would be a bad fit as an OC. He has less skins then Watson.

Groh as a WR coach or recruiting coordinator sounds fine. As an OC... Hell no.

I hope like heck Lincoln Riley is the guy. He fits with Wickline and the Big 12 scene.

Or maybe Wickline made the move because he has reached the highest level possible with what he has to work with at OSU, is getting up there in age, sees Austin as a better place to turn the last corner in his career, is getting paid more at UT, has personal ties to Strong, or any combination of the above. It's not like he was playing under a world-class and proven OC at OSU this past year. It may have had nothing to do with his decision, and I wouldn't bet the bank that his coming in signals we made a homerun hire, or any hire at all at this point in time.
Hmmm... really?

That's certainly an interesting perspective.

Let's see how this plays out, then. I'm pretty sure our OC is known, and has worked with Wickline before.
