Notre Dame is coming to town!

I am not as eloquent as my UT brethren on here but this thread has brought me chuckles. Thanks for your input Irishfred. This kills some of the time before the actual game. Keep em coming gentlemen 🤘ðŸ¼

Just let Fred do the talking we'll see if he's around if Texas pulls off the upset in 19 days

Here's a little trivia from the 1995 Texas-Notre Dame game.

The punter for each team attended the same high school.

Mark Schultis for Texas and Hunter Smith for Notre Dame both attended Sherman (Tx) High School. My son graduated the same year Hunter did and played on the basketball team with him. Hunter also punted for both the Colts and the Redskins. And I think he now plays in a Christian rock band.
You're correct NTG on all acounts.  I graduated high school the year before Hunter. I went to Denison and Sherman is our hated rival. To say he was an athlete is an understatement. His junior year, he played qb for 3 qtrs and switched to wideout for the 4th qtr. He threw a td and caught 1. They won The Battle of the Axe that year 28-21. It sucked!  LOL! And he was FAST! I mean this kid could really pick em up and put em down. We actually matched up on the 2nd leg of our respective mile relay teams that spring. Let's just say I was blessed to have gotten the baton 1st. By the time I passed it he was breathing down my neck. Incredible athlete. I worked with his dad at TI when Hunter was at ND. If my memory serves me correctly, ND was having issues at qb around 96-97? Hunter lobbied for the opportunity to compete but according to his dad, Holtz said no dice as he didn't want to ruin Hunter's chances to make the NFL as a punter. We were also told he went out for the high jump and and out jumped the scholarship athletes...

I have two friends who are huge ND fans and have let me know that even though they UT, we don't have a chance. This is my first game to go to in over 20 years so I'm calling for the upset, Horns win by 6. 🤘

I'll be around - I have UT season tickets and go to most of the games.

But as an ND grad, my beloved Irish trump all of the rest.

This will be a game for the ages...  but Irish will win by 10.

I saw Hunter at the JACC during some type of athletic day event.  It was intended for the general student body.

There was an impromptu "slam dunk" contest in one corner of the area, and Smith was kissing the rim and throwing down some nasty dunks.  There was a crowd around the court, as there were some upper classmen varsity athletes participating.  Hunter was elevating higher than almost everyone else - and I am not embellishing the story.

He was a freshman.

Just received the season tickets, gentlemen.  What a glorious sight.

UT starting a true freshman qb in a Sunday night game, in a stadium that will have broken the attendance record yet again, against The University of Notre Dame?

Kelly trying to play both of his (arguably) top tier college quarterbacks for the purpose of avoiding one of them to transfer out to another school?

Texas instilling a brand new ultra-fast offense under a 37 year old offensive coordinator that has not called a single play at the level that he will encounter on September 4th?

Oh hell yes...

The way you tell it Irish I don't know why we are even wasting our time playing the game. Sounds like ND has already won. I can appreciate your confidence, and by all accounts ND should win, but to believe that UT doesn't have a chance seems a bit foolish. Hook'em!!
