i'm amused to see a lot of discussion regarding nd's level of confidence. the point seems to be that nd knows what they have and we don't know what we have. well, that knife has two sides, and we're only hearing about one of them. here's the other.
we're a team in transition and the trend has been up, given the recruiting and the development history charlie and his teams have shown. i think it's just a matter of time, but nobody - including our staff - knows when the thing will turn. might be this week. might be later. one thing's for sure, though. nd doesn't know, either.
so, nd knows what they have and we don't know what we have. said a different way: we know what nd has, and nd doesn't know what we have. if we have a bigger muscle than nd is expecting, this might be a unpleasant experience for them, win or lose. or might not. we have to put the pig skins out there over the chalk stripes to know for sure.

I know this kid messed up at Texas, but I hope he learned his lesson and moves forward.

Since it's highly unlikely Irish Fred will return to eat crow, I'll just use his thread to post my post-game thoughts. This is now a Texas Victory Thread.
1. Heart. This win was all heart. And we have a big one now. Thank you, Charlie.
2. DL had some difficult times tonight against a stellar ND OL. But they kept fighting. Having some depth, albeit young, certainly helped.
3. We left a few TDs on the field tonight, which probably equals out the coaching decision by ND to alternate QBs, essentially blowing valuable time with something that wasn't working.
4. Buechele was nails. Never shaken. Always composed. We have found our QB.
5. Swoopes is a hero. The kid just answers the call and gives it everything he's got.
6. We've got to clean up the special teams mistakes.
7. If not for a penalty, it's likely this game does not go to OT. IMO
8. I did not expect this kind of night from Jacorey Warrick. Bravo young man.
9. Need to get pressure from Omenihu. Seldom saw that happening.
10. Game ball goes to Buechele on offense. I give my defensive game ball to Wheeler. Kid played a helluva game.

This is my favorite post from the wisdom of Irishfred on why Charlie was restricting NFL scouts access.
but I understand Strong for the move. He is simply protecting his NFL eligible players from losing stock if they get soundly beaten and humiliated by an Irish team that is definitely playoff-bound, which is a real possibility?

Brian Kelly on ESPN saying our perimeter speed was "unbelievable".. He said they were "running cover 3 and still couldn't stop our offense"

Great game, and a sincere congrats to all of you for showing up and staying late. What a win for your program - it was huge as I expected, and could not have gone any better (except for one defensive stop)...
Charlie is clear to invite the NFL scouts next weekend. I think that all is safe now.

no. don't go. i wish we played you guys every year. the series we've had with you has been good for both of us, i think, and also i think it's been good for cfb.
there are people we used to have to play routinely that i hope we never play again. also one we're stuck with for the moment. but you guys are class and i wish we had an arrangement.
edit: forgot to wish you guys a great season, too. knock 'em dead but not in the head.
