SignUp Now!doubt that will come into play too often. went back the last 4 years and nobody worse than 8-8 would have made it. additionally 3 10-6 teams didn't make it (like arizona last year) that now would. i'm not in love with it, but don't hate it either. but yes, obviously it's about money. it always is.Just what we need. 6-10 and 7-9 teams in the NFL playoffs.
Dilutes the importance of regular season games while lining the owners' pockets further. Greedy
The argument by the NFL owners and fans is what streettopeschel was speaking of, the 3rd place teams like the Cardinals last year that didn't get in because a division winner is guaranteed a playoff spot. In a way, guaranteeing a division winner sort of dilutes the importance of the regular season. I wonder if it would be better if the NFC and AFC both dissolved the divisions as they are and formed two divisions in each conference with 8 teams. The problem would be scheduling. Head to head with the other seven teams in your division takes 14 games with only 2 games left over to play inter-conference games. 18 games would make more sense if they were to form 2 new divisions in each conference. Well, for the owners it would make more sense. More $ for certain.Just what we need. 6-10 and 7-9 teams in the NFL playoffs.

...and they shouldn't. IMO a 16-game season is too long. Hell, a 14-game schedule is too many! The players were never going to go for the 18 game schedule.
