SignUp Now!Waste of an inch on my iPad.Count me as one that is not impressed with either of the defensive recruits from Warren Easton that we have offered. I'm not sure I would trust someone's opinions on recruiting when they get signing and committing confused. As for the Strong fit comment, there is very little quickness displayed on the 8 minute junior film highlight on HUDL. I'm not so much baffled at the offer as the timing, guys like this very rarely get offered by a program like Texas in February but I guess Strong wanted one in the bag before moving on to bigger fish. I see this guy as a Tyrone Taylor type for ya'll. Which two games did you see?
Seriously, and I mean this without any ill will, why is everyone in such an uproar about a poster's opinion. He respectively gave his opinion. I personally trust Charlie Strong's evaluation over a random internet poster but part of having a discussion board is to ....wait for it....discuss things. As long as it's a civil discussion, I don't understand why anyone would need to get worked up.Waste of an inch on my iPad.
You spent way too much time on that. I have a feeling he will be run off eventually, I'm not sure what the hold up is.Seriously, and I mean this without any ill will, why is everyone in such an uproar about a poster's opinion. Our Aggie visitor has a viewpoint about our newest recruit which isn't glowing. Big F&*king Deal. He didn't say that our recruit sucked or that the Aggies only go for blue chips or anything else. He simply stated that this is a guy that he'd expect us to go for later in the year.
Personally, I disagree. I think this is an athletic guy with a frame that will hold more good weight who is already a good technician in the run game and played at a decent level of competition. At this point, Strong isn't really putting out any offers to guys that he considers "marginal" or "projects".
I do think there is a fallacy among internet posters, myself included, to overly inflate players committed to your program and denigrate players that are on an opposing team. It's also common for people with no stake in the game to throw around uniformed opinions as if it's the gospel truth. Ultimately, Charlie Strong will be judged on how many games he wins. I think he's a smart guy with extensive experience coaching and developing players, particularly on the defensive side. Until he proves incapable of rising to the challenge, I'm going to assume his offers are to players he wants.
Anyways, this is getting long winded. Ultimately, Agmaniacmike seems like a decent guy, the kind of guy I'd be happy to have a drink with and talk football with. In terms of the responses, I'd say he's been much more civil and even keeled then some of the responses. I assume most of the folks on here are happy to see you post your opinion, even if it's wrong, and that it's just a vocal minority that are getting worked up about something that's not a big deal.
And you guys just took the hyphenated named guy from Louisiana and you are saying this? Please don't take this as me bashing Texas. Your program is much better than offering guys like this in February of their junior year.
Lighten up Francis. Calling Ag posters "douchebags" and asking McP to ban. Maybe acropora is a Horn that moved to Virginia...it happens. This site tends to be more civil...not TexAgs, or Shaggy Bevo. You spent way too much time on that. I have a feeling he will be run off eventually, I'm not sure what the hold up is.
Just saw you are in Virginia. That explains a lot. No offense, but you aren't in Texas guy. Different around here when it comes to the relationship between Texas fans and ags

My deal as I've pointed out on the reg: This is a Texas board! Hard for you to comprehend? You're reaching dude. Grew up in Austin. Went to UT for undergrad and med school. I understand what ags are generally like but I also know that not every Aggie is a jerk and not every Longhorn is someone is I'd want to hang out with.
Not sure what your deal is....
Anyways, back on topic. I see this kid at 250ish and playing end. I think he's a guy that could carry enough weight to be a good strongside DE in a four man front or play DE in a 3 man front. His lateral quickness and change of direction doesn't seem suited to playing OLB imo.
Does not appear to be a Shaggy Free Zone either...This site isn't an Aggie Free Zone and it shouldn't be.
If you are referring to me, you would be mistaken. I'm an ORANGEBLOODS and IT member and I know some of the mods here from those forums are just as bothered by the ags presence as I am.^^

The word-smithing of that, and the build toward the snappy punchy pro-style summation should land you a paid position on any of the blog board/forums. As to the eval, the mulligan I give to Strong and staff is that ole what you see that the eye can't see thang. They must see a potential and the fact they know what they can do with it.I am reasonable, I question the evals of guys in recruiting. You will see me on recruiting threads quite a bit because I enjoy following it and feel like my evals are solid and aren't biased like most sites. I plan on releasing a state top 100 sometime in the spring. If any of the mods have a problem with my negatives on a player please let me know and I will stop posting them. BTW, everybody loves it when I heap any praise on Buck Majors and Ed Freeman, but can't handle it when I think poorly of another prospect.
Positives: Uses length well; Smart player-always has eyes towards the ball, decent gap read; Size- looks like a bigger Derrick Roberson; Hints of athleticism-jumping towards ballcarrier, violent hits?
Negatives: Slow and lumbering; Strength is lacking; Lean and vertical leverage (plays high); Hand placement and block shedding; Little to no explosion off the ball.
Basically, looks like Tarzan plays like Jane.
Grade: Mid 3-star, bottom end top 10 DE in state on average years (prob. top 5 this year thus far)
