Meeting tomorrow

I think if Saban is seriously considering the jump, this has absolutely no effect on him and his decision. He knows Mack is leaving and we are about to hire a top tier coach. Why would he sign an extension at Bama for less money overall (including business deals w/BMDs) just because it's 12/18 instead of 12/15. Saban is not being pressured by anyone for an autograph on the legal paperwork that determines his future.
I just believe we/he will wait for the appropriate time.

Agree

Ditto as well. Would any of y'all say screw it I'll go with my second option for a life changing, $70-100 million dollar decision (of any kind) because the process took a couple extra days (hell even weeks) longer than the fastest possible time? This is basically a corporate merger, folks. Lots of stuff to get done. It takes some time (disclaimer - I personally am getting as impatient as anyone with Mack Aronigrill).

Shorter version: chill y'all it's done.

i don't think Mack is stalling. He's playing the game for Texas. He's taking a lot of heat but he's actually helping Texas right now in recruiting. At this stage it's all about the plan that has been laid forth. I think we'll have an official announcement on Monday. If Saban changes his mind Patterson is doing an exceptional job finding other alternatives.
EM, I don't know if that's accurate. Wasn't Mack suppose to announce a couple of days ago but had a change of heart after OB made it public.

The announcement of Saban will do more for recruiting than Mack. He is delaying bc he doesn't want to leave.

Contractor, Mack is not delaying because he does not want to leave. He no longer has any leverage to do that. He (with the support of UT) is delaying to maximize the effect of his retirement announcement. Maximum effect would be Saturday or Monday, depending on who you believe. Remember that UT wants this to be a "tribute to Mack".

mack is gone people..there giving him the chance to go out on his own..chip browns report pissed him off so he wants to make it look like its his choice. i expect the meeting today leaks later tonite and announcement by monday.. as far as saban goes well im still on the NO side but if it happens great if not bring me anyone but mack..culture change is needed plenty of coaches out there..

Any idea when the meeting is set to take place?
sometime today suppose to be..hell macks out recruiting as i type so who knows....but the meeting is nothing its already set in stone hes gone ...this is all just a cover for mack to seem hes in charge..macks gone.

This is like the kid who knows daddy is in the living room waiting to whip that *** and keeps driving around to avoid going home.....

Chip Brown is reporting the meeting is scheduled this afternoon before the banquet.

It would appear that he is avoiding Austin like the plague. I'm sure he knows there is a red tag in his locker just waiting for him.

fwiw....

Speaking from personal experiences? :-)

Oh god, that brings up bad memories of when I was a kid. If I did something wrong, grandparents made me go out to the willow tree to get a switch. Get one to short, they went and got their own, and usually came back with a whip. Get one to long, and it would wrap around you and hurt worse!

So let me see if I have this right:

1. Either the decision has been made and the meeting is to hammer out the final details or the Powers/Patterson have come to a decision and are going to tell Mack he needs to resign - either way Mack is gone.

2. Mack knows this and is stalling by going out on recruiting trips. Keep in mind he is using a jet registered to the BoR to do this. I believe the recruits he's been visiting are all enrolling in January, except for Leonard who he visited since he was in Longview already.

3. This goes against want Powers, Patterson, BoR have decided, but Mack continues to do so anyway....

4. Mack is controlling all of this and since nobody has the power to stop him....he will continue to just fly around the state recruiting

5. Saban wants to come to Texas, but only if its done by a certain date.....Mack knows this and that is why he flying all over the place recruiting.

6. Once the deadline Saban has put forward passes, Mack will come back to Austin and take his meeting with Powers/Patterson and then announce his retirement.

Does that not sound completely ridiculous to anyone else?

The more likely scenario is that everyone in power knows what is happening and that Mack resigning was never going to be announced until Friday at the earliest(fyi a lot of the players had gone home and weren't coming back until today). The meeting between Mack, Powers and Patterson is to just figure out when to announce. This crap being leaked about Saban not coming if this isn't done at a certain time is completely ludicrous. Why on Earth would it matter? Either he wants to come or he doesn't. There is also the possibility that Saban has indeed agreed to come but does not want it announced until after the Heisman ceremony, not wanting to detract from what should be a night about McCarron. Texas has agreed and Mack is doing his job as HC until the announcement. This makes far more sense than the idea that Mack is just flying around the state, doing whatever he wants and nobody has the power to stop him.

I brought my mom a stem from a Magnolia tree with the leaves stripped off and told her to beat me to death with it. It's bad when they go get the switch, it's so much worse when they go get the switch after you've made a roomful of people laugh at their expense. She didn't succeed in beating me to death but she tried...
