Had an alumni friend that's plugged into to some of the DFW BMDs say that something could shake out midweek regarding Mack's shaky tenure on the 40. He tells me Patterson, Powers and Brown are in New York Monday and Tuesday and that could be coming up with an exit strategy. I've been on record saying I believe Brown returns, but after the disaster Saturday I'm more encouraged he's on his way out. In addition to his alleged blowup with Major in the locker room at the half Saturday, Brown and Akina had words on the sideline to which Akina just threw his arms in the air. This is a sinking ship taking on water by the day. Hell, by the hour. Anticipate something to happen by midweek. FWIW

I think lots of smoke screens are going out. Some people claim its absolutely this week..other hear it could be a few weeks

Im in the camp it goes down soon. Texas cant afford to wait and I just dont buy the notion Bill Powers who has a BOR problem to begin with since he's one vote from getting fired will really when push comes to shove throw his career into the fire to save Mack or stall this out for weeks

He would feel the full power of a Bob Rowling, Hicks, etc pushing on him and they helped him stay around to begin with

It should happen today.

There is no drama.

Just go ahead and say your "heart-felt" good byes Mack.

Old Jim, AKA GetHooked will miss you as much as I missed Capt. Sideways, AKA Greg Davis.

I think it happens tomorrow at the latest. The longer Saban doesn't sign that extension, the more suspicious it looks.

Hope so. Cujo is saying on OB that powers and jamail are pushing for Mack to wait until after the bowl game to announce.

I just don't see it happening. I see Mack back on the sidelines in 2014 and I'm not happy. In fact I'm sad. I'm so sad, I might actually go read a book.

Sad Pancho.

Smokescreen. Texas doesn't have that luxury of time to wait.

saw that. Im sure he's being told that but its just hard to buy. Texas cant wait that long even if its not Saban

Your problem here is that you are reading OB. I don't trust anything that comes off that site.

from my view this is a clown show. this break needs to be clean and swift. patterson needs to step up and be the grown up in the room. the fact that we are not prepared to move on scares me. all of the scenarios should have been written out and had a script. the glad handing and politics is shining a light on why we are in the situation we are with our football program. the things that should matter, do not.

Thanks for the info. I think Mack is gone this week and Saban is named to replace him within a few days of that. Nothing set in stone, but that's what I'm thinking.

Saban has had multiple opportunities this weekend in front of the media to put all of this to rest. He hasn't. That in itself is reason for me to believe there is more truth to this than people want to believe.

I think this is the issue though, riloh. So many people are saying that Patterson doesn't even have a say in the matter and that it's all Powers. We all know how Powers feels about Mack.

There was a quotation floating around all of the boards last years saying "UT doesn't do clown shows." Well congrats, because we are in one right now.

at this point I wouldnt believe one word Jamail says. I havent heard him talk this much in years, and I think he;s just throwing shit out there

If we wait for Mack to announce and he finally does, after the bowl game, we will have lost a great opportunity to turn the program around quickly.

However, no matter when it happens, Mack must go. The program will survive but we will be mirred in mediocrity for another year if it is another 3 weeks before he announces, at least that is how it appears to me.

If we want Saban, this needs to happen soon, if we wait, we likely lose the opportunity for Nick.

Even so, while I will be sad if Nick doesn't come, there are still some fine coaches that can ,given support, turn our program around in a couple of yrs.

But first we must be rid of the cancer in the program that is Mack Brown.

My hope is that Jamail is strictly posturing and positioning this longer/drawn out crap so that the decision to step down sooner and "for the good of the program" comes from Mack this week. Ideally this allows Mack to gain some goodwill during his exit and avoid being negatively construed as holding the program hostage for his own ego driven motives. Man I hope I'm right.
