So, what your saying is that I have a chance to a statue or hall named after me. :)
Until they find out you once shook hands with a guy whose great grandfather was a known racist. Then your statue head gets lopped off and your statue body will have to come down. lol

Racism should be long over. I think in the lives and minds of most people it is.

It should be. After all, who are we to judge others. In essence, that is what racism is.  Judgement based on skin color.

That's your primarily problem. "History doesn't really mean anything."

I think that pretty much sums up my point. And I thank you. Sorta.
Hahaha that’s your move? Taking a words from a line in a paragraph and try to make it your point. If that’s all you got, you’re weak my guy. I said you saying history teaches us they changed doesn’t mean anything because they aren’t alive to know their true intent & you cannot time travel to know. If your point was summed up with you trying to pick words in a line from a paragraph that I said without the context of what I was saying... you’re not built for a conversation with me. I’m bored with your weak points of view. Go pretend to be the great insider you are. You’re not built to have a meaningful conversation about race in this country. And I won’t waste my time with a closed-minded, ill-informed guy whose words mean shit to me. Good day sir.

No, it was my point from the beginning. You just slammed it home. I appreciate that although you probably don't care for learning that.

While we're at it, can you now list all the words in the post you are referring directly to here and tell us which words you meant, and which words you didn't mean? After all, it was your post. You're the one posting it. Right?

I don't think you should really be talking about the limitations of history. You've made it clear you don't care for it. No biggie, not everyone is into it. But its clear you can't speak on it without goofing it all up. History tells us more about yesterday than today tells us about today. History was documented far better way back then than it is today. Geez, you can't even trust what is broadcast on 90% of news broadcasts these days because some people wake up to hate each day.

If you ever have the chance to trace your own ancestry back, say as with ancestry.com – you will see that the farther you go back, the more information becomes available to you. Thats because we were better at keeping accurate information back then than we are today. Until you get back to the 1920s, its pretty much just date of birth and date of death. Get back to the 1600s and you find out about personalities, achievements, how they died, etc.

Sorry guy, it’s not just your university. It’s theirs. It’s mine. You & your opinion doesn’t matter anymore than mine or theirs. And it’s a fallacy you’re using. They aren’t just doing this out of nowhere. They are seeing people who look like them. You don’t get to tell people what’s their heritage. And I don’t have to stand up for a history I don’t think is right. So since it’s my university as much as yours, I choose to stand with the players on this one.

I wonder for the people complaining about history and giving in. If the university gave in to the demands. The players play & recruiting takes off. UT football wins multiple championships. The basketball team even wins one. Would it be worth it for you? I mean 5 championships in football, a basketball one. That sounds like a good time. Would that make you fine with changing a song & taking down statues? I just wonder.
It sounds like you want those of us that don’t want to give up The Eyes to sell our belief and love of that storied song for championships. Does integrity and loyalty mean nothing anymore?  My answer is no.

I don’t want you to sell anything I asked a question. So maybe it sounds that why to you,  it that’s your problem,  it mine. I do wonder what’s the belief you have for the song? Love I understand. But what belief do you have in the song? I would say what the players are doing takes integrity. They are risking more than the people on the internet complaining.

Sure we know if they changed. History teaches us this.

The Civil War wasn't just about slaves. You read that right. It was a cluster of issues, along with slavery, that brought the south to secede. As you can see, we have the history. Thats not the problem. Teaching, reading and retaining the history is our biggest problem.
The Civil War wasn't just about slaves huh. LOL. Yeah it wasn't about slavery, it was about economics. If was economic helpful to have slaves pick your cotton and not have to pay them instead of paying a wage.

The confederacy were losers. They were the aggies at the time. Just like the aggies that didn't like the rules of the Big 12. The south didn't like that they didn't get to keep their slaves and committed treason against the United States of America. We need to change the name of anything having to do with the confederacy losers.

I understand the players thoughts and completely respect their actions. You asked what a specific question about would it be worth A if you gave up the song, I say no. And yes, that question sounds to me like you’re alluding to fans of keeping the eyes selling out for championships. To me that is an integrity question

Again it sounds like that to you. That wasn’t the point the point of the question. So maybe you shouldn’t assume you know my intent. Thanks.

So can we get rid of the democrats since they fought against the emancipation proclamation?

Maybe make your intent more clear then. Reread your question, you give a hypothetical outcome but saying something has to be given up. You ask would losing the song be worth a certain reward. To me and probably others that is a question of integrity

Yeah I don’t have to explain myself to you or anyone on here. And I won’t have my words be interrupted the way you feel. It’s a hypothetical question that apparently questioned your integrity. That’s on you, not on me. I’ve said that wasn’t my intent. That’s that. You can keep saying it questioned your integrity.  But since I’ve already said that’s not the point, either you can accept that or you can keep talking about integrity. Which I guess means you’re questioning mine.

That democratic party is gone.  There were shifts in ideology since then.
Oh you’re gonna get the right wing talking about how false that is. And to bring it back around. It’s funny people will say that. I took a class at UT called Southern Political History taught by Professor Enelow. We actually talked about this & the fact it happened. But I see so many people pretending that Southern Democrats didn’t switch parties.

to those who want to let the student body decide on the school alma mater, you dont placate a bully by giving into their demands. You want to change things at UT, get your degree, go make a difference in the world, get yourself elected to a state office, get yourself appointed to the BOR, donate $$$$ to the university and name any building you want, but Im not going to allow you to change tradition at my University because your feelings are hurt. You haven't earned the right to change things..What happens next year when the class decides they dont want to play football because its too violent or they dont want to be represented by a steer because they are vegan, or they are offended by a Tower being lit up because they dont worship any building that depicts a phallic symbol...You see how absurd this could get. Stand up for your alma mater, its your heritage and your history they are trying to change
I'm glad you don't work for the University. The University has already removed Jefferson Davis and Robert E Lee. Too bad if you don't like the possible removable of former losers from the confederacy and racist. In your own words you haven't earned the right to decide what changes.

This is not your University. It is also their University. They are bringing in income to the school. How much have money have you brought into the University.

I choose to respond to you no longer because I simply don’t see your point, other than attempting to attack my intellect and character.

Have a nice evening.

Hook ‘em!  Horns

That works fine for me. If I want to respond to your post then I will do so. If you do not wish to respond then I will assume it is making you a better person.

Why would I question yours?  I don’t know you or your past. You put a question out there that sounds one way to me and I asked a question back. It’s sort of like me saying the point of The Eyes is not racism but people keep questioning it. Either those questioning that can either accept that or not.

the parties never switched.
