I don't think you should really be talking about the limitations of history. You've made it clear you don't care for it. No biggie, not everyone is into it. But its clear you can't speak on it without goofing it all up. History tells us more about yesterday than today tells us about today. History was documented far better way back then than it is today. Geez, you can't even trust what is broadcast on 90% of news broadcasts these days because some people wake up to hate each day.
If you ever have the chance to trace your own ancestry back, say as with ancestry.com – you will see that the farther you go back, the more information becomes available to you. Thats because we were better at keeping accurate information back then than we are today. Until you get back to the 1920s, its pretty much just date of birth and date of death. Get back to the 1600s and you find out about personalities, achievements, how they died, etc.
