Malzahn vs. Fisher

Give me Malzahn between the two. Although I'd still prefer Saban or either Harbaugh!

...please allow me a moment to make it a bit easier for you...

malzahn, just seems to exude class. he just seems upon the surface, to be a very comforting asset to auburn university.... albeit, class, gentility, integrity. just the perfect southern coach.

fisher, seems to be a bit of a brute. obviously, very smart.... and yet, you just get the sense that he may not be all that loyal to fsu should push come to shove. loves to win at all cost.... but with him, you might want to keep an eye over your shoulder. and yet, he seems to be a player favorite.

so there you have it mcphaul. basically, it just comes down to their own distinct personalities... and the one that you are more comfortable with.

Malzahn. I don't know if everything just happen to fall right for him this year, but his coaching this season was amazing.

It's like choosing between swimsuit models at a beauty pageant. Either would be great for UT.

Given a choice, I prefer Fisher because he seems to have the down home, "folksy" charm. He's more like DKR and Mack than Malzahn, IMHO. Both may be better long-term hires than Saban.

Malzahn is one year into a major program.

Fisher has four years of HC experience at a major program.

I like the both and will admit, I'm not sure which one I would prefer?
Malzahn I think would fits The Texas culture......and you know he is a very good coach!

So your saying Malzahn can get it done faster...got it! ;)

I think Gus's résumé speaks for itself.

It's especially hard to find fault with either of them considering they are both in the MNC and it's hard to overcome short term bias.

I still think that Gus has done it so well at so many places you have to give him a hard look. I think he's my favorite.

And for those that say he lacks head coaching experience I truly think you are selling his résumé short. Sure highschool isn't the same as college but he won state at two schools, won conference championships first year the 2 years he has been head coach and is 2 for 2 at that.

Given the choice between him and Saban I might actually lean malzahn. Though not if Saban and him were the same age. That's just silly.

One thing that worries me about Malzahn is that Auburn scored a TD with 10 seconds left to beat Miss St, a TD with a minute left to beat the Ags, scored on the Hail Mary against Georgia that they couldn't duplicate if you gave them a thousand more tries. They also struggled with Wash St.

This is a team that easily could have lost 4 games. If Auburn were 8-4 would Malzahn even be considered?

Mc P,

Just curious. is Malzahn even a target? Last i saw of your list it was NS, JF, JH, JH.

Outside of John Harbaugh I'm going to be pretty damn excited if it's any of them but assuming Malzahn ins't being targeted I might just prefer Jimbo to all of them at this point. He's really growing on me.

I may be wrong but didn't Fisher basically run the football team before he became head coach for quite a few years. I think we will see either fisher or a coach that wont come to mind until Jan.2 become our head coach. The later will tear up football at Texas but I think Fisher could do a great job.Just my wishful thinking.

If you're giving me those two; I think they're about equal in my sight. I would be fine with the choice of either guy. I think they've both done a great job where they're coaching. Gus did it one year. That's REALLY impressive. It's also a small sample. Can he follow it up?
