Major believes the next coach at Texas will be...

For the sake of continuing this conversation from Santa Gertrudis, here's a few comments he made on the same thread posted on another board:
One poster says Major won't have the option to stay at Texas next year:

"You don't know that and neither does he."

Another poster says he can't see Major as the OC here, but possibly the RB coach with Porter's departure:

"Major understands that he would likely have to take a lower profile job on the staff and is willing to do so to stay in Austin."

Major did work for Saban at Bama.

FYI
Many thanks SirHornalot

Santa...maybe I've missed it but can you share more on this info? just curious what the story is..if Major is telling people this, etc. Thanks

Can't go into details but it his belief.

Saban was just interviewed pre-game in New Orleans and he didn't look directly at the camera or the interviewer. I think it's clear that he is coming to Texas.
It's going to be a long night. LOL

SG, hope you don't mind me quoting you. I tend to pay attention to your posts and wanted to share some more of your thoughts on the matter with the rest of the gang here.

Aidensdad confirms SG's source. FYI
just saw that. No offense to Santa at all as he's putting this out there, but Aidensdad is some big backup

Yep, those were my thoughts as well.

You can't question Major's commitment to UT. If this all gets confirmed, I personally respect Major for making sacrifices to stay where he loves. I know many have given up on Major but as I said, I think his best days are ahead of him.

I want to believe...I want to believe...I want to believe. I'm just so punch drunk now I'm hesitant to get my hopes up anymore. I think it's time to implement the "Rope a Dope" strategy and just weather the onslaught. Body blow!....Body blow!

Fournette and Saban to #Texas is catching a lot of steam. Again, I'm just the messenger. If he picks Texas, WOW! I'm just a messenger.
Well, that didn't happen.

I'm so confused.

There is a report that Major has indeed resigned and accepted the severance.

To clarify, this is just one person's opinion - and he is not directly involved with the hiring process. He is certainly closer than any of us but he is just speculating based off of what he knows and how he feels, nothing more.

There's also a report that says he hasn't...from the AAS

Applewhite has made no plans
By Kirk Bohls

Texas offensive coordinator Major Applewhite told the American-Statesman that he has not resigned as has been speculated on the Internet recently and is simply waiting to see what options he might have.

"That's all nonsense," Applewhite said when asked if it was true he had stepped down from his position on former coach Mack Brown's staff. "It's not true. I'm just weighing my options right now."

Applewhite, a former Longhorn quarterback and assistant on Brown's staff who was elevated to offensive coordinator after Bryan Harsin resigned to take a job at Arkansas State a year ago, said he will be paid his salary through August. His base salary was $600,000, but he made more in incentives. Until then, he will remain in Austin and field any offers that might come his way.

Applewhite, 35, said he has not been offered any job yet.
