Default This was posted a bit ago on OB's public board...

From a guy calling himself "1TimePoster"...(it has since been erased)

This will be my first and only time to post to OrangeBloods.

I just walked out of a meeting with regents Foster, Powell, Hildebrand

as well as Deloss Dodds, Steve Patterson, Bill Powers, a representative for Joe

Jamil (Mr. Jamil was on the phone during the meeting) as well as Mack Brown.

The time line has been set for his retirement and the

announcement will come December 2, 2013 during Mack Brown's press conference

after the players have had their Q&A with the media. Mack will come back out and make the

announcement and take a few questions and then will promptly hand the mic over

to Powers who will go on to say a few nice words about Mack and his career and

how much he meant to us, so on and so on.

Deloss will be sitting there, but wont speak. Patterson will speak next and talk about how

much respect he has for Mack Brown and how he is going to keep Mack in the

program and will be part of the hiring of his replacement. A few details about a retirement celebration

will be given etc.

We also discussed if this announcement should be made now or

later. I was the lone vote for making

the announcement now. I feel that you,

the fans, have a right to know and this will help us rally the fans so to

speak. I didn't win.

I feel this should also be said. Mack Brown was in no way fired. He called the meeting and was not happy with

having to make the decision, but the decision was entirely his. He was not forced out. Powers, Patterson and every one in the room

tried several times to talk Mack out of this and assured him he was here until

the end of his contract. He made the

choice and we accepted his resignation and set the plans you've just read.

I'm not posting here for internet points. It doesn't really matter if you believe it or

not, but it's the honest to God truth.

Hmmmm...very, very specific.

I never know what to believe anymore, but it's hard to ignore things that have such details.

We'll see. I believe that would be a perfect time to do so. If Baylor beats OSU and we beat Tech, it might just give our players enough motivation to come out against Baylor and send Mack out with a conference title. Would be perfect.

I'm with you, I never know what to believe anymore. At the very least, though, it is entertaining to watch people overreact.

Oh great, Mack will be involved in the hiring?
I think that's just window dressing.

I also think trying to talk him out of it was just a courtesy. People don't get stubborn about walking away from jobs that pay $100,000 a week.

This was posted recently by an insider on Inside Texas.

I don't believe that this contradicts anything said recently and it is not my intent to do so. That said. Mack will retire. He will get his parade -- maybe literally. However, the timing of his retirement is NOT up to him. Period. There are too many variable at play to allow Mack to point at the calendar and say "here."

There is a highly orchestrated waltz which was choreographed months ago and even though Mack is only now learning of it, he will absolutely dance according to instruction. Too much is at stake to allow a megalomaniac tantrum to disrupt the plan. Mack will play ball and, if he does, much will be done to make things look like his idea. But departing from the script will absolutely not be tolerated.

Even the steamrollers want Mack to have his day. But it will be on their timetable and at their leisure, and there are very real consequences if Mack deviates from the plan.

==============================

Mack may have called this meeting according to the plan.

This may be true. But no way anyone in that room begged Mack Brown to stay and finish out his contract. No way

I agree and don't think anyone begged Mac to stay but it would not surprise one bit if they let him know that he could remain the HC is he really wanted to if for no other reason to be able to say that this was Mac's decision and he was not forced out. That is if all this is true.

I'm with some of y'all that m not sure what all is true and what isn't.

I m one to believe the above is Lip service, just like they asked Mack to stay. I don't think Mack pulls any strings but they are pulled for him. If Deloss was in charge, my opinion would be different.

I don't know why u would want Mack to announce now? Then Texas would have to do some bs coaching search.

It's pretty simple:ask Saban until he says no. Go down the line(Patterson and BMDs pick), Briles, Meyer, Shaw, Harboaugh, Carroll, etc.

Less time btw announcement and BCS games the better bc many of the considered coaches will be in the BCS/playoff games.

Does not appear to be credible. Meetings like that, if there was one, is very confidential. The poster gives away who he is in the post if he was there. He would never be allowed in another such meeting. I just doubt that it is genuine.

is it Jamail or Jamil? someone in the know should know how to spell the name
Good catch. I missed that when reading it the first time.

Least of all Patterson. I expect the reality is Mack has zero influence on our next HC. What will his 'new role' with the athletic department be? Coach Emeritus? Color analyst for LHN?

I watched the "Longhorns Rewind" show last night. On one play Mack says, "Swaim lined up at H-back in the slot outside of the TE". Huh? Unfortunately, there was no TE on that play.

The man has checked out!
