Mack's reluctance to step down

Thank you for the invitation guys, I like the site and what you have going here. The essence of Mack Brown's existence at Texas over the last few years can best be summed up by the following word: TOLERATED. You might ask yourself why ...Mack is insistent on sticking around despite the obvious desire from fans and some in Bellmont for him to save grace and announce his retirement? Let's not get caught up on the '09 BCS title game achievement, but that feat did energize Mack to want more and ultimately left him in Austin until this season.

Mack Brown WAS a powerful man on campus. He has zero power left and he will not return next season as head coach of the Texas Longhorns. The dynamic between him and the powers that be have disintegrated. He has no more saviors on campus. There is no saving grace. Frankly put, Mack coaching this year in Austin is an anomaly. It wasn't supposed to happen. Bill Powers has already had a conversation with Mack (a very TOUGH conversation) about his future. Mack is adamantly not wanting to relinquish the head coaching position and it has progressed the relationship between him and the university to be considered "strained."

The issues surrounding the University (Powers) are very real and have implications that ripple into the athletic department and beyond. Powers is fighting to save his job and when you throw in the other issues related to the athletic department, it means there is a lot up in the air. Our entire university is basically "up for the taking," from Bellmont to the President's position. No more Deloss, no more Mack, potentially no more Bill Powers. This is very real.

Bill Powers is a vote away from being vaporized from UT. Things are incredibly heated on the 40 Acres.

I really don't understand the vote against Powers, especially if Hall is going to get impeached. Wouldn't the other BOR members stand guard until at least after the proceedings?

If Rick Perry is pressuring to do this, doesn't this make him look bad to the US, as he is running for US President? I'm not doubting the news, I just don't understand the consternation only after congress threatened impeachment proceedings.

Why would Mack Brown voluntarily leave when DeLOSSY (brain dead) Dudd is handing out 5 millions a year compensation for a job that any coach worth $500K can do?

Big money and big ego are by far the most potent forces in any human endeavor.

I thought all the shit with bonehead Rick Perry had died down?? Last I saw Dewhurst had put an end to Perry's little witch hunt.

He will leave voluntarily or he will be asked to leave (fired). You are right though, Mack doesn't want to let go.

Thomas, I wish I could be as sure as u are that Mack won't be back but I'm not. Jamail or whoever else maybe still on his side. IF, he ends up 9-3 again, he won't go quiet.

I have read a but on Perry trying to get Powers out but I don't know the details? Don't know who the good guys and

Bad guys are?

Forgive my liberal bias..but..how the hell could Perry look more bad to the US?
