A friend of mine wrote this, and has been nice enough to allow me to share his hard work.
The past:
1. In 30 years as a HC, Mack Brown has won 2 (.067) conference championships.
At Texas:
2. Mack Brown is 6-9 (.40) vs OU.
3. Mack Brown was 126-28 (.818) his first 12 years at Texas.
4. Mack Brown is 30-20 (.60) in the last 4 years.
5. In those 4 years, Texas is 18-17 (.514) in the Big 12, and 14-11 (.56) at home.
6. Texas has lost the last 8 straight games at home vs top 25 teams.
7. This is the 4th straight year Texas has at least 4 losses.
8. Texas has lost 3 of the last 4 to BU, after beating them 12 straight times.
9. In 2013, Texas had 19 starters back from a 9 win team. They may win 9 games this year.
10. In 2013, Texas was 2 miracle last second wins (ISU and WVa) away from 6-6.
11. In the four 2013 losses so far, the average margin has been -21.3 pts
12. The 2013 OSU game was the worst home loss of the Mack Brown era.
13. Mack Brown owns the worst ever defeat vs OU, and 4 of the 5 worst ever.
14. After going 8-5 in 2011, Mack Brown got a major contract extension. (for what??)
15. The 550 yards gained by BYU in 2013 was the most yards rushing Texas has ever allowed in over 100 years of play.
VS BU last night:
16. Mack Brown admits it was his idea to give BU the wind in the 3rd quarter. BU outscored Texas 17-0.
17. Malcolm Brown was 17/118 yds 7 ypc in the first half, and 8/13 yds 1.6 ypc in the second half.
18. Daje Johnson had only 2 rushes, but he gained 19 yds, 9.5 ypc.
19. Case McCoy was 12-34 2 int (with another pick 6 that came back due to a penalty) 54 yards, with a
longest completion of 14 yds, yet Mack Brown decided to feature his arm in the 2nd half.
20. The McCoy offensive juggernaut gained net 217 yds vs BU.
The Future:
21. Texas has not signed an impact QB since 2005.
22. The Rivals Texas recruiting class rankings for the last 5 years: 2009- # 5 (3.85*) 2010 #3 (3.92*)
2011- # 3 (3.77*) 2012 # 2 (3.64*) 2013 # 24 (3.6*) (small class in 2013, thus the low ranking.)
23. Texas had 5 de-commits in the 2013 class.
24. Texas has had 4 decommits so far in 2014.
25. 2014 is the year of the DB in Texas recruiting. There are 8 DBs in the Texas top 25, and Texas has none of them..
26. The average ranking of the 5 classes from 2009-2013 was 3.77*, and those classes have delivered a 30-20 record.
27. The 2014 Texas class has six 4* recruits, fifteen 3* recruits, and one 2* recruit. Average ranking 3.22*.
I forgot one superlative. The 2012 defense was the worst ever at Texas, at 412 ypg allowed.
Think things look bright if Brown returns in 2014?
