According to Pete Thamel (@SIPeteThamel)

Just bumped into Mack Brown in NYC: "You had me fired after the KState game," he said. Then he added, "I have no comment."

let's be fair...this is a fairly humiliating thing to happen to anyone and it is happening in front of the whole world. i have no need to slam Mack. He's a good man....but this hurts and he is going to have some sensitivity.

I starting to feel like he is not going away that easy.. that's a very confident thing for him to say during this time...

I agree I still love the man... and want this be him riding out in the sunset...

So Powers and Patterson are in NY with Mack.

And I've heard Saban is in NY right now.

True? If so, just coincidence or does it mean something?

He said Mack had a full week in NYC. Im pretty sure he will be at the banquet one way or the other.

I respect everything Mack has done for Texas in his time here as well. That said, he has had a lot of opportunities to walk into the sunset the right way where the fans could have been on his side for a farewell tour. His stubbornness to the bitter end is what has turned fans against him. I hope it all ends this week, and with some time away from the program he can get his due respect sometime down the road.

Powers and Patterson are going to be meeting with Saban while there. This is effectively his "interview" with Powers. Patterson's job is to make sure Powers doesn't screw it up.
