This was posted a bit ago on OB's public board...

From a guy calling himself "1TimePoster"...(it has since been erased)

This will be my first and only time to post to OrangeBloods.

I just walked out of a meeting with regents Foster, Powell, Hildebrand

as well as Deloss Dodds, Steve Patterson, Bill Powers, a representative for Joe

Jamil (Mr. Jamil was on the phone during the meeting) as well as Mack Brown.

The time line has been set for his retirement and the

announcement will come December 2, 2013 during Mack Brown's press conference

after the players have had their Q&A with the media. Mack will come back out and make the

announcement and take a few questions and then will promptly hand the mic over

to Powers who will go on to say a few nice words about Mack and his career and

how much he meant to us, so on and so on.

Deloss will be sitting there, but wont speak. Patterson will speak next and talk about how

much respect he has for Mack Brown and how he is going to keep Mack in the

program and will be part of the hiring of his replacement. A few details about a retirement celebration

will be given etc.

We also discussed if this announcement should be made now or

later. I was the lone vote for making

the announcement now. I feel that you,

the fans, have a right to know and this will help us rally the fans so to

speak. I didn't win.

I feel this should also be said. Mack Brown was in no way fired. He called the meeting and was not happy with

having to make the decision, but the decision was entirely his. He was not forced out. Powers, Patterson and every one in the room

tried several times to talk Mack out of this and assured him he was here until

the end of his contract. He made the

choice and we accepted his resignation and set the plans you've just read.

I'm not posting here for internet points. It doesn't really matter if you believe it or

not, but it's the honest to God truth.

Detailed, but a few things which seem far fetched. Power guy would know how to spell "Jamail"....

The on or before December 2nd date has been circulating for a few weeks now. Also remember the rumor that was floated a while back that Nick Saban had been given a deadline of December 1st to make a decision on the Texas job. Throw in the truth that the LHN has been working on a Mack tribute video and there could be something to the December 2 date.....

Smoke? Mirrors? Fire? All this will unfold sometime soon and we will see.

It looks to me that Mack would want to announce his retirement B4 the final home game against Tech. If he does announce prior to the Baylor game, how aggressive is the search for his replacement going to get? Do they already have that particular person in mind? In regards to the current staff, will this be like their audition for the new man? No doubt about it, we're headed for one crazy finish to 2013. Win or lose this is going to be one interesting offseason.

Very good point in regards to wanting to announce before the final home game. That would make the most sense.

Everything sounds good up to the point where they tried to talk Mack out of the decision several times and that they wanted him to stay for the duration of the contract, sounds like a direct contradiction to almost everything out there.

Exactly what I was going to post.

We should fire Patterson now for asking Mack to reconsider.

The typo's might have been on purpose??

Dec 2 would be a great date for a non Saban hire because that guy could start recruiting his tits off right away. If it's Saban, this class might have 2 guys left because who are they going to commit to, and if they're told it's going to be Saban then that will become the worst kept secret in sports. And surely Saban would only confirm himself if they lose to Auburn and/or CCG.

I just hope if it's not Saban - and I doubt it is, based on nothing - that we get someone in quick to flip some commits and energize the program leading up to signing day.

This sounds very similar to the Dodds' "I'm not retiring" speech, then he turns around and does retire pc within a month of the leak.
