Everything I have read from Chip on OB has put me more and more into panic mode. Chip Brown has been reporting that Mack wants to come back, Powers is 100% in control in his future, and he may allow Mack to come back. Patterson seems to have no power at all. What a clown show it is at what should be the greatest Athletic Department in the country. Does anyone have any positive news to report? If Mack comes back, or does not resign quickly, the Texas Football Program will continue to go down the tube. What is everyone's take on the situation?

my take at this moment would be not to pay attention to Chip Brown. What is being reported elsewhere today is about a 180 of that including even here

All I can tell you is to remain calm. If you've followed all of Chip's commentary, you'll see he is of the opinion Mack won't be back. Be prepared for anything, but don't panic until its time to panic.

Here's why Chip Brown says all that...because his source is someone close to Powers...not because it's the actual situation...it's just the perspective Powers wants to put out there. Chip is carrying his water for him.

My hope is: Mack retires within the next 2 days, Powers will get way out of the way regarding a coaching hire, and Saban comes to Texas.

Jesus and the BC just said in the Humidor that Powers, Patterson and Mack will meet in NY to discuss Mack retirement and that Powers is now on board with talking to Saban, with Patterson present as the buffer. Paraphrased of course.

Newsflash: Chip Brown has been wrong before! I think this thing is picking up steam. I believe Powers must either get on board, or get off the boat. Why would Mack want to come back when virtually the entire Longhorn Nation wants him gone? Take your buyout and exit with dignity. Should this become a pissing match between Powers and the BMDs along with the regents, Powers will not win. I believe all parties will do whatever is necessary to avoid a messy divorce. FWIW

Let's hope Chip's wrong about this being a drawn out mess! Saban 2014 sounds better and better every day!

You have to remember Chip reports what he hears from both his trusted sources and the official mouth-pieces at BM. If you read through his posts you will see that he says that he thinks Mack is gone. Journalist often report the "official" word along with sources they develop. You often have to read between the lines to get their true take on it. It is the only way to walk that fine line and keep their press access to the school. It is a different road than what the insiders take. Both have good value in their own right.

Interesting, I had not thought of it like that. I'm buying into the Insiders' posts regarding Saban and I hope to God they are right.

Mack won't be back. If they do allow him, Powers is out. Level 1
Sounds like a little pressure was applied to Powers by the Powers.. No pun intended
