Shannon Terry who founded 247 with Bobby Burton (and is a Bama insider) has maintained throughout that Saban to Texas was never happening and still is not. Will finish his career at Bama.

My two cents.

To Ketch's defense his admitted use of other aliases was when he first launched the site. He used aliases to make it look like there was more activity on the board since when it launched there were so few posters. I know Ketch can come across being high and mighty sometimes, but I don't think he is a dishonest person. I also feel the OB holds back on a lot of information unless there sources can confirm with pretty good certainty that the information is correct.

I agree that just because the OB is saying they are hearing that Saban may get an extension, it doesn't mean anything until it's signed, sealed, and delivered.

We all have to remember that there isn't a coaching vacancy "yet", as Mack Brown is still the HC. I don't expect any decisions to be made until after the Baylor game and before the banquet weekend.

Chip just updated it, and said that Bama is putting a deal together to offer Saban, but it hasn't hit his desk yet.
Bama was obviously going to make an offer to extend his contract and give him more money. This does not mean that he has any intention of taking it.

This to me proves the rumors that we have been talking to Saban. Now in the next few days is when we'll discover if he really was interested, or was just using us to get a raise.

It proves nothing. His contract gets reviewed and renegotiated EVERY year. just business as usual for them.

Bama was going to make a counteroffer. The fact he hasnt signed anything and Bama has not even given it to him per what Im reading right now means all this smoke is hardly worth the uproar at this point.

Saban may indeed stay at Alabama, but it's still a fact that the Texas BMDs are moving heaven and earth to make him the next U.T. Coach. Some People are reporting this process and have been getting positive feedback from the Saban Camp...

I agree but Saban staying at Bama is much more believable than it ever was about him coming to Texas. I'm afraid this is more likely to be true than the rumors we heard Wednesday.

I had a conversation a week or so ago. One of many I've had in the last several months. But this conversation was the one and only one where numbers were thrown around.

Based on the numbers the "rumors" are saying Bama is prepared to pay Saban, Saban would be taking a potential drastic cut in pay to take it.

The Texas numbers are ones that are staggering. You'll hear an official number, but to get to the real number you'll need to multiply by at least 3.

You'll not see that number in the contract because that exists outside the contract since it's not being supported by the state.

Couldn't disagree more...I put zero stock in ANYTHING being said by Ketch on this topic. The reality is nothing has changed other than the amount of turbulence and misdirection going on. This deal is still on track and it would take A LOT to derail it.

I don't have a problem with you having a differing opinion. To be honest, I like your ferocity when it comes to attacking anyone and everyone regarding the Saban stuff. That said, Sirhornsalot is far from a troll. I know this for a 100% fact. He's not one to just post random musings for the hell of it. No, I'm not speculating. I'm just sharing what I've been told by some folks who are well connected.

I'm not a betting man, but then again, this is not a prognostication, either.

If this changes, that's what I'll say and post when I hear it. But to this point, no one seems to be budging from the story despite the crazy rumors floating around.
