Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-Recruiting)

To my fellow Horns fans:

Remember, If a circus comes to town, you don't have to talk to the clowns.

This thread is Longhorn News/Discussion (Non-recruiting). Let's see if we can get back to that topic.

With that, I became a Longhorn fan when my uncle introduce me to Tommy Nobis and Pete Lammons. Actually there were several others, but those two stood out to me. For a young kid those two guys were like Greek gods to me. LOL. In little league baseball and football I always wore #25 for Chris Gilbert.

Hook 'Em!

Spoke to my friend earlier today. He was very upbeat, so I just asked a few questions and listened.

Staff is very excited about a number of players and the progress they've showed so far. Troy Omerie tops the list. Am told he reminds of Keyshawn Johnson. Aggressive going after the ball.

Caden Sterns may finally be healthy again, as far as his old injuries go. Would love to see him go a full season healthy. If he does, he probably goes to the NFL. He said Sterns was still doing a rehab schedule, mostly to strengthen things up.

Overshown's energy is contagious. When he's in, there's a different feel for the defense. He said it sticks out like a sore thumb. Coaches notice.

As good as Ossai was last year, he's better now. Stronger, bigger, kept his speed and quicks. He said Ossai is easily the most focused player on the team. Says you can't even talk to him before a game.

Quietly, Josh Moore is getting back into the coaches good graces. He's done everything asked of him to get back to this point. Compared to his fellow Horns at his position, you can see there is an "extra gear" that Moore has that the others seemingly don't. He expects Moore to have a big year.

We hear a lot about Deshawn Jamison because of his play last year. Friend says that he's playing like a senior so far. Very confident. Great technique. Disciplined. Could be our best corner since Westbrook. Said nobody else looks as good as him fielding punts.

He raved about T'Vondre Sweat, saying he stayed in good shape and will pair up nicely with Coburn. He said Sweat is benching 40 pounds more than he did when they stopped lifting. Thats not a bad jump at all.

He said most of the guys are in good shape but some will need some extra conditioning to get there.

Great stuff!  Thanks for posting this.  It put a smile on my face.

I never like hearing about injuries to kids, but it sounds like OU is having some problems in that area.  Caleb Kelly went down with a serious knee injury (sounds like an ACL blow out) and Tanner Mordecai went down with an undisclosed injury.  He was battling with Rattler for the QB1 position.  Most expect Rattler to win it, this may hurt their depth at that position. Welcome to UTs 2019 season OU.

Yes thanks SHA great infro. Hope its true not koolade.

Hope post is now back on tract. Sure got off tract and sorry to say I helped sidetract it.

I can live with that ranking to start because I know UT will move up.  What i don't get is OU at #6.  They have a lot of unknown, unproven talent.  They lost their 2 best O players in Lamb and Hurts.  Kenneth Murray was the heart and soul on defense. I could see in the teens to start, but at #6.  That will make it that much sweeter when UT beats them this year.
