There have been a lot of numbers thrown around regarding what Texas might or might not pay to hire its next coach. I thought it might be helpful to provide a few links so people can look at the revenues and expenses of various schools so people can grasp a better understanding why Texas isn't worried about spending a few extra millions to get the right guy.

In looking at these numbers, it's also important to remember that Austin is the largest city in the nation without a major sports franchise (the Ice bats don't really count). That brings enormous financial advantages. Barring some unforseen event, the numbers for UT athletics should continue to grow and we will most likely be the first athletics program in the NCAA to reach $200 mil in the near future.

In rough numbers, revenues to our football program are more than double those of schools like USC or TAMU. They are four times those of schools like Louisville or Baylor. Our football revenues alone are more than the entire athletics budgets of all but 7 of the 351 NCAA Division 1 schools.

USA today compiled a list of total (all sports) revenues and expenses:

Forbes recently listed the most valuable football programs:

And the best source is the Dept of Education database that lists each school's revenues and expenses by individual sport:

If anyone has any other resources to add to the list, feel free to add the links.

Here is another link that isn't financial related, but it does have info regarding wins and losses for every FBS team and the ability to do some side by side comps of two teams:
