Lincoln Riley not under consideration

Awesome. No really. Wouldn't want to go with a young, innovative coach for our offense or anything like that. Sorry, but this is really getting frustrating especially with the apparent trend towards having Wickline as OC to avoid buyout $ and to have Watson as the QB coach play caller. Just seems like a bit of a cluster at the moment and unfortunately coach Strong doesn't seem to be progressing towards a hire to generate some energy and momentum from the top offensive talents in state. I hope I am wrong.

this is nothing more than speculation posted as facts and your WAG. you do not know any of this. no one does.

ATX, the only thing we know is that we have no clue. So kind of hard to pass judgment on him no progressing towards something.

Just an FYI, every coach is listed in the UT directory right now except for Watson. Not really sure if that means anything, but it's odd to me.

I'm not going to go off the deep end like I did when the Watson rumors were out there, but I just don't understand what's taking so long. Petrino was able to hire a head coach from UAB as OC and the DC from Georgia within a week or so. What's taking Strong so long?

negotiating Morris' buyout is a plausible answer.

That's what I'm thinking, but not saying. Don't want to get my hopes up regarding Morris.

But think about what it would be like to have Strong running the defense and Morris running the offense. That's what I call an all star staff.

This is very disappointing. Charlie was doing so well until he couldn't get a decent OC and he supposedly kept Chambers on the staff.

He's in for a rude awakening if he thinks defense alone cuts it in the Big 12.

since you cannot be talked off that ledge, jump.

Jump to conclusions much?

Chambers is listed as a special assistant still.

JimR, like I said, it seems things are going the way I posted and I also said I hope I'm wrong. You are correct, I don't know and I certainly didn't intend to post anything as fact. I'm basing this on monitoring 3 different message boards and twitter. I want Strong to succeed and really like what he's done with the defensive hires. I like Wickline and Robinson on offense as well. Watson may be fine, but we've seen the momentum Texas H.S. recruits have for the offenses being run at Baylor, A&M, and Tech. I'd think Strong would want to compete for those kids as well and it would seem that his OC hire would gravitate in that direction.

We are less than a week and a half in. Not sure what the comparison is.

Splash hires are very short term gains, if any. All that counts is winning and production.

Kids go to winners. Alabama does pretty good job of recruiting without an Oregon offense, so does tOSU, and LSU just landed the top recruit in the country.

Lotushorn still standing by his account that Watson in play for a Ravens' asst job. THat might explain why Watson not listed in the directory like the others.
