Lil Update

Briles and Malzahn over Fisher for me.
Is John or Jim the better HC, in your opinion?
IMHO, the only thing that separates Briles from Fisher is Briles's knowledge of the landscape recruiting wise. Otherwise, I think Fisher is every bit as good as Briles in player development (especially QBs). With the field we're working with here, Texas would have to try to screw this up for it to go wrong.

I did get to talk to three good folks today and they were all convinced that Steve Patterson is going to hit a Grand Slam.
McPhaul is Patterson fully incharge are is the BMD involved in the decision making process. Has MB finally moved on and he will not have a say in who is hired and what goes own with the football team. Untill that happens we might have trouble getting a football coach. My friends y'all have a great week.

I would love me some Grand Slam right now

Thanks for the update! Count me as one who would prefer a coach with college experience. Gruden is a great coach, but I feel he would require too much OJT dealing with recruits and boosters.

Gruden is sooo good people think its an unfair advantage to hire him. thats why he hasnt ben given any coaching job in 6 years. He won the SB in 2002 with someone elses players and his record in TB was 57-55. Winning! Oh and also he only has 3 years of college experience, non as a OC but its ok, he was the passing game coordinator at SEMS! Maybe Gruden just sleeps at a Holiday Inn Express every night?

Yes, it is the Steve Patterson show.

Do not get the love for Gruden.
Do not want Tomlin. Think it would be a huge fail. Bad fit.

Franklin intrigues me but the skins on the wall aren't there.

Scared to death that Mora is the safe uncontroversial pick. He could just as likely underperform Mack in some ways. Would not rally the fanbase.

I'd definitely keep Gruden on the list and remove Jim Mora Jr., I'd be ok with Briles but he's not a Grand Slam either

I appreciate a man who works in the word "landscape" into their response.

Cowherd pointed out he got Sark to USC and Peterson to UW right. This before he called Jimbo Fisher to Texas. That's his 'pick'.

clan,

I'm hearing that it is still Sabans if he wants it. Harbaugh was one of Patterson first call.

Fisher would be a hell of a consolation prize.

Yea, Jim rebuilt that program on toughness and discipline. Shaw's enjoyed the fruits of that, but it takes a good coach to keep the program on top, too.
Didn't know Jim's record at WKU. Thanks for those stats.

Jim only helped his father at WKU. He did this while he was still playing. He was never the head coach there or even a paid assistant. His first head coaching gig was at San Diego and then Stanford.
