Okay so I will have "The Morning After" up later but I wanted to put up the likely bowl matchups for Texas before we all find out later this afternoon.
Cotton Bowl
Likelihood of bid: 1%
I never say never but if the Cotton Bowl selects Texas, it would be a monumental upset and a terrible matchup for Texas.
Alamo Bowl
Likelihood of bid: 50%
Texas went to the Alamo Bowl last year. Usually bowls don't want to select the same team that they had the previous season. However, with Oklahoma's win over OSU and Northern Illinois losing the MAC championship, the Big 12 could have 2 teams in the BCS. If that is the case, the Alamo bowl would have a choice between Kansas State or Texas. With Oregon being the likely opponent, the Alamo bowl won't select Kansas State. So it would be Texas versus Oregon. Texas fans shouldn't be hoping for that matchup but it is very likely.
Holiday Bowl
Likelihood of Bid: 30%
You're probably wondering why I believe the likelihood is lower for the Holiday Bowl than the Alamo Bowl even though they select after the Alamo. Because the percentages I am making are for if the Texas Longhorns fall to these bowl selection committees, what is the likelihood that these bowl committees will select the Longhorns. The only way the Longhorns get in front of the Holiday bowl is if the BCS only takes 1 Big 12 team. If that happens, Ok State will play in the Cotton and Oklahoma will play in the Alamo. Then it's Texas or Kansas State for the Holiday bowl bid. I believe that Kansas State would get the bid if the Pac-12 team is not USC.
Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl
Likelihood of Bid: 100%
If the BWW Bowl has a chance to take Texas, they will. Now who would be the Big 10 opponent? The Nebraska Cornhuskers. Wouldn't it be a nice sendoff for Mack Brown to beat the program he effectively destroyed? Mack Brown went 8-1 against Nebraska when they were in the Big 12. I mean he beat Nebraska with Garrett Gilbert, he can beat them with Case.
