Just because you know the state & might have a few beers with a HS head coach does not mean you can relate to a 17/18 yr old WR recruit.Sorry to burst your bubble but Koenning knows this state backwards and forwards. He will do just fine in recruiting.
my guess is that watson might be leaving for the nfl. if so, then i guess this hire makes sense. This hire is strange to me. He was OC/QB coach at MSU and he's coming back as a position coach? Was the money that much more than he was making at MSU?
The other strange thing to me is that, according to his MSU bio, he's been a QB coach since 1998.
We'll see what happens. The staff on offense seems to lack a recruiting "rain maker" like a Brewster or someone of that caliber.
With the dead period ending tomorrow and coaches going out on the road Thursday gotta think the official release on the hires will come tomorrow.
Rumph is pretty highly regarded as a DL coach around the country. I get people want to assume saban kicked him out but people claimed bo Davis was a saban reject and he just hired him back after rump went to Texas. My theory is that Mullen told him to see if he could find another job. Don't think he did a great job at MSU.
Add him to Chris Rumph who were likely rejects from their current teams (I.E. it was probably recommended that they try to find another gig).
MB, he is MSU's recruiting coordinator and considered an elite recruiter.Just because you know the state & might have a few beers with a HS head coach does not mean you can relate to a 17/18 yr old WR recruit.
Your theory is wrong. My theory is that Mullen told him to see if he could find another job. Don't think he did a great job at MSU.
