Ketch going off on OB

Does Ketch think he is a standup comedian? My twitter follow of him lasted a mere five minutes. He has personally contacted former OB members to beg them back with a mega discount. Fact. Rivals worried you think?

You probably won't follow me much llonger on twitter either then.LOL.

I dont think "Rivals" itself is worried, but there are good people on his payroll and good people learning the business right now who deserve better.

My sign things were a bit off was when Gaspar started writing at other places. Good way to supplement income if youre missing some money....

Orangebloods is Rivals most profitable site.

As far as where Ketch is taking that site, I'm not sure. The coverage and insight into the football program and political landscape just isn't as good as what I'll read from JS, McPhaul, Scipio or some others. I'm stunned that cleaning up the riff-raff isn't a high priority though. I'm not sure he realizes how much of a power down that is. The mods rarely participate in the day to day threads so they just don't see how worthless some posters are. When a poster like CS starts a thread, it's just terrible the responses that generate. The civil discussions are few and far between now. In terms of an identity for the site, I think he's struggling with that now. I almost thinks he wants to blend in pop culture with the centerpiece of longhorn football to create an "online bar" type of atmosphere where a wide range of topics are discussed. Just read his weekly column. But that's tough to pull off when you have a niche site.

As far as advice for this site and learning from others 1) Keep out the non-sense, it will maintain the quality of the board 2) As mods, feel free to facilitate some discussions by starting threads of your own and letting the posters take control with quality discussion...the Crossfire is just one example 3) If you have different contributors, make sure each is bringing something unique to the table.

Im well aware of that McPhaul. The other details I wont get into out of respect for other bosses, but to say if Rivals doesnt like something, they can make the change.

I've also been an OB's member since 2005 under the name zakcr30 (original huh?). With only 1500 posts I have been more of a lurker, and tend to comment more on the off topic threads. That said, I'm on the site numerous times a day. There has definitely been a change over the last several months. Maybe longer than that. Quite a few of the really good posters either post less or not at all, and the number of dbags has increased considerably. I still enjoy OB's, and have no plans to cancel my sub over there, but I have a feeling I'll be checking this site out more and more each day. There is a good vibe over here.
