looking forward to Horns basketball next year. Jordan Barnett's team just won the Missouri State class 4 championship and Barnett had 43 points and 20 rebounds. Time to get on board Myles Turner.

I've seen Barnett play a few times in AAU, IMO he's already better then any wing player we have. 1) He's got a nice jump shot. 2) He brings size and defense on the wing. His only real negative is he doesn't have that killer instinct yet, but that will develop.

Just saw this as a tweeter from Mark Rosner, and was about to post it when I saw your thread. Have you seen a box score or game description? I would be interested in how his shot selection breaks down threes vs twos.. I agree, Myles Turner, come on down! The future is so bright, we gonna have to wear shades!

Have not seen a box score but watched the game. He looked comfortable from beyond the 3 line and had a dunk where he took off from just inside the free throw line. Reminded my of Dr. J in the slam dunk contest years ago. As far as the killer instinct. It was on display today. Every time things got tight and especially in overtime, he asked for the ball and took the shot whether it was driving lane on shooting outside.

Looks like Coach Barnes may need to earmark some minutes for Barnett next year. I had read that some folks thought that he might not get a lot of minutes for a year or so. Seems to me that that may not be the case. We certainly do not have anybody like him on our roster. I stated on another thread, that next year may well be the deepest roster I have ever seen at Texas since Coach Leon Black's days. We are going to have a lot of big and small options that will create some difficulties for most everybody we play. I am looking forward to next year.

My fear is Barnes will make the kid so paranoid about screwing up on defense that he'll digress offensively. I hope I'm wrong as Rick needs some legit outside threats for next year no doubt.

Yeah. He was the best player in Missouri but he is likely going to come off the bench next year. I am expecting two transfers (my guess Lammert and Croaker).

They are just guesses. Lammert might not but if Texas gets Myles Turner, it's going to create a logjam with the big men. Everyone wants to play and that creates transfers.

Barnes told Abrams he was the worst defensive player he had ever seen. the next year, he apologized to Abrams and told Durant HE was the worst.

neither of those guys was so traumatized his offense suffered. this "Barnes is too tough" stuff is hilarious.

Possible. Texas's guard play leaves much to be desired so Texas could go to the traditional 2 G, 2 F, 1C lineup. So if Turner commits, it will be Taylor, Holland, Holmes, Turner, and Ridley.

You could be right, Chris. But being the infernal optimist, and knowing absolutely nothing about what Lammert might or might not do, or, even his internal motivation, I will side with JimR. Here's the Script, "Lammert will stay because as JimR says, '... they will play Ridley, Turner and Holmes together, and there will be plenty of minutes for Lammert.' Also, Lammert wants to stay close to home so his family can see him play and he also wants to be a part of something special."
