Why has he not gotten a shot as a head coach? What hes done to Manziel twice is impressive, not to mention the rest of his long and distinguished list of victims.

I have often wondered why he isnt mentioned for head coaching openings or why we didnt look at him instead of diaz.

Maybe he has no desire to be a HC, although he would probably be a good one. He would be my second choice at DC, behind the Michigan State DC.

I believe he turned down Texas & Mack for DC position when Mack called.

Yeah, my first thought is how do we know he wants to be a HC? Maybe he's happy being a DC?

Could be the same reason Norm Chow went so long before landing a head coaching gig. Some coaches are just better assistants. Mike Stoops is much better as a DC than he was as head coach at Arizona. I'm sure Chavis has had opportunities through the years.

He is making $1.3mil/yr. Without any previous head coaching experience would he make enough taking over a second tier program to justify dealing with all that comes with being a HC?

$1.3 puts him around where Mike Riley (Ore St), Hugh Freeze (Ole Miss) and Rich Rod (Arizona) are getting paid. Where would he go that would pay hum enough to convince him to take on all the extra trouble?
