Jimbo Fisher signs extension

It's becoming more and more Saban or bust. With Briles, Fisher and Malzahn signing extensions over the past week and Shaw not leaving Stanford the options for "top tier" coaches has definitely thinned out.

I fully expect Saban to be the guy, but if not, it's either an NFL guy or someone from the college ranks that is not going to move the needle nearly enough for most people. I'd have no problems with a guy like James Franklin from Vandy, but there are a lot of people who would not like a guy like that.

none of these contracts mean anything. What is the buyout number? thats the only number that matters. Someone could sign a $50 million deal but it doesnt mean anything. its all about the Buyout!

I agree that buyouts are pivotal, especially on an existing contract .....but do you really believe a coach is going to jump ship immediately after signing an extension?

if the right job comes around, yep, the very next day.

Buyouts are crucial. However, some of these "extensions" are just agreed upon and the agreement is signed but not the contract meaning the coach can leave at the lower buyout. Gives them a good deal while still being able to play the market.
