Jimbo Fisher Patterson's number one target?

I wonder if we will ever know the extent of Saban/Sexton's real interest in TEXAS. . .

Having said that and having read Bobby's comments on Jimbo. . .the #1 thing I like about him is the staff he'd bring including a return of Tim Brewster. . .

Short term. ..he'd have a great shot at a repeat title but long term . .sorry FSU isn't TEXAS nor is it a Top 10 job (11-12? maybe) and Tallahassee isn't Austin. . .not to mention we can pay better than they can and by that I mean $10-$20 million more 1st contract alone. . .that is a great deal of coin. .

either one would be a great pick- Jan. 3-6 Saban after that if there is no announcement then on Jan. 8th Fisher

Don't care. Not worried. Patterson/BMDs/UT will get the best coach available (which means practically anyone with UT's money) in their mind and it's out of our hands. The best news we got was that Mack was done which is a huge movement in a staid, conservative, and accountability averse program.

Between Fisher and Saban, I'd prefer Fisher but only if we thought it was more likely than not he would stay here 7+ years.

I really like El Mahico and I know he posts here as well. I never got the idea though his sources were plugged into the BMD/Regent/AD side of things where coaching news would likely come from over a staff source. I may be wrong on his sources, but I've been told in the past he's in with someone who is on the coaching/staff member side of things. just IMO
He says he has not heard anything close to what Mcphaul, several respected others have heard, and obviously what JS has been told to keep quiet about. Its prob just a matter of different people in the food chain
I thought his source was Akina, but I'm probably wrong.

I really think that Fisher would be a great hire. We cannot go wrong with Fisher or Saban IMHO.

When u say we cannot you mean u don't think we will, right? Obviously past performance is not a good predictor of future success and even the most sure fire home run hit can be a disaster. What of saban came in here, got hammered by the ncaa, and our program's reputation was shattered? What if fisher came in here and drove over a pedestrian while dunk? There are no sure things, right?

Would if fisher knows of coming infractions at Fsu, and that's why he is interested, why else leave a team that has a shot at back to back titles.

If he loses then I could see fisher actually wanting to leave, but winning a title and having your Heisman qb return for next year, I don't see him leaving unless there are other reasons.

Something happened the day of the Shicks nuke, Dizz. EM's sources went 180. Or maybe EM went 180 from the attack, perhaps to help increase our chances of landing the Viper. Either way the 180 happened the day of the nuke. Something I noticed.

Can someone explain to me why JF would come after he wins NC. I think he wins. Is it all about $ or is thereSomething else. Florida is a nice state with lots of talented kids. Also every year you lose kids and face new

Challenges which should keep him invigorated at his current position. Does he have Texas ties?
FSU is a tier two school, they compete with UF for the state's best recruits, they're like the red-headed stepchild. Texas is in the top fifty universities, resources are ten times what he gets at FSU, and the football program here is a lot more prestigious in terms of level of attraction from in-state recruits. There are probably a lot of other reasons, but for me, it's a no brainer that Jimbo would be interested. And he's crazy talented, Tigers loved Jimbo. He coached some of our best quarterbacks at LSU, Nick tried to take him with him to Miami, and actually, Bama wanted Fisher before they snagged Nick. He'd be a killer coach at Texas.

To expect 3 championships in 5 years is a little (ok, a LOT) unrealistic. I think ANY of us would be happy with 1 in the next 5-7.

For long term, I would take Jimbo in a heartbeat, if Saban can guarantee at-least 3 titles in the next 5 years, that would also be a home run. It's just the idea of having long term stability vs immediate success (I think it would take Fisher a year or two longer to build the program than it would Saban). Both would be excellent hires though.

Fisher would be a good choice. OH, and how many times must Saban say no before we write him off?
The 1st time he says no after we have an opening at the HC position.

If our decision basically comes down to Saban or Fisher I will be extremely elated. One of them is the GOAT in regards to college coaches. The other guy is one of the GOAT's best disciples and has without a doubt followed a legend at FSU and returned that program into a national powerhouse. You really can't go wrong with either. Short term, I think Saban is the best because his name immediately turns heads and will give us an immediate boost in recruiting. Long term I'd say Fisher is better because he'd be here for 10-15 years as compared to 5-7.
I don't understand why being able to stay on for 10-15 years constitutes a desirable criteria. Mack Brown has stayed at Texas for 16 years. What's so good about it? The only thing that matters is the ability to win conference and national titles. How many coaches have managed to sustain a winning streak like Saban's for more than 10 years? As a business operation, it's better to limit each contract to 5 years at a time. If at the end of contract term the performance falls below a pre-determined standard, then let the contract expire if a better coach can be found.

Jimbo Fisher has yet to win a NC. I'd put him way below Urban Meyer and a couple of others.

No, I wouldn't be happy with 1 NC in 5-7 years if the coach is getting paid over 5 million bucks a year.

If Saban comes to Texas and makes several millions a year, I'll expect him to to win 3 NCs in 5, or 6 NCs in 10.
