Jesse Palmer's thoughts on "What's Next at Texas"

He basically said we need another Mack Brown.
If we can find a better Xs & Os "coach" who can also schmooze & charm the alumni, recruits and BMDs...fantastic! At this point, we don't need another detached "CEO coach". We need somebody with his finger closer to the pulse of our team.

Everybody always wants the opposite of what they had before. . . if you had a "players coach" you now want a "task master" . . .Pete Carroll was very much a CEO type. . so was Bobby Bowden. . .great coaches. . .

Mack's problem wasn't being a CEO type. . .Mack's problem was not being able to maintain the high after 2006 and holding his staff accountable. ..had nothing to do with being an X's and O's guy or a CEO guy. . .

I want a successful type . . .if he's a CEO . . .fine. .hire great CO's and staffs (of course I want that either way). . .

In fact I'd argue the staff is likely more important than the man at the top. . . you give me Chad Morriss to run the O. . .Derek Mason to run the D. ..Tommy Moffitt to run S&C. . let them hire their staffs . . .you or I could coach the Horns. . ..now you want the best at each spot so you wouldn't hire me but I think you get the point. . .

I cannot believe we have allowed it to go on this long. We should have had this wrapped up by December 10.
