Per Max Olson of ESPN, Texas wide receiver Jake Oliver is giving up football and forgoing his senior year.

I assume this is injury or health related?

Sorry to hear this. He was just starting to find a niche in the offense.

Does this get us to 85 counting the freshmen that will arrive in summer?

That doesnt suck. The man went to college to get a degree. He got that degree and it landed him a very good job apparantly....good for him. Frankly I am proud for him that he really knew what he was there for.
Sucks for the team not for him he could have helped.

My recollection of Oliver's career is:  Redshirted as a true Freshman; followed by two years of never seeing the field.  He was constantly brought up as a possible attrition candidate or being moved to tight end.  This was followed by a Junior year in which he started (at times) and played good to brilliantly (Notre Dame).  Finally, he decides to skip his senior year?  Very unexpected to say the least...

God speed Jake.  I wish him well in his career that it sounds like he is ready to begin.
